Not just on our walls, but in life too.

One of our favourite pieces in the cottage reminds us that the world is a brighter, more interesting place when people are free to be themselves. Colour brings warmth, personality and joy, and we think people do too.

Bold Venture has never been about creating a generic holiday let. We wanted it to feel individual, welcoming and full of character. A place where guests can relax, switch off and feel comfortable being exactly who they are.

As Pride Month reminds us, diversity isn’t something to tolerate, it’s something to celebrate.

☀️ Summer at Bold Venture Cottage ☀️

Longer days. Relaxing mornings in the courtyard. Evening walks by the canal. Time to slow down and enjoy the simple things.

Whether you’re exploring the Yorkshire Dales, wandering into Skipton for lunch, or simply relaxing with a book in the sunshine, summer is one of our favourite times of year at Bold Venture Cottage.

Our little courtyard is perfect for a quiet drink and a catch-up after a day out, while the recreation area opposite gives children and four-legged family members a little extra space to stretch their legs.

And just a few minutes from the front door, you’ll find the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, ideal for a gentle stroll, watching the boats drift by, and enjoying the slower pace of life that makes Skipton so special.

We’re delighted to be welcoming guests throughout the summer, and with only a few spaces now remaining in the calendar, it’s worth taking a look if you’re thinking about a Yorkshire escape.

☀️ Bank holiday sunshine and a little May opportunity ☀️

With the sunshine finally here, May suddenly feels full of possibility.

We’ve recently had some extra availability open up at Bold Venture Cottage, so to celebrate our first birthday this week, we’ve reduced our May stays by 25% on Airbnb.

A chance to enjoy longer evenings, canal walks, Yorkshire Dales day trips, good food, and a proper change of scene.

✨ Bold Venture Cottage turns one ✨

Today marks our first birthday, one whole year since we opened the door for the very first time.

We didn’t quite know what to expect, only that we wanted to create a place that felt calm, welcoming, and genuinely special.

Since then…
• 48 stays
• 38 five-star reviews
• countless walks, slow mornings, and cosy evenings

But more than anything, it’s been about people — the guests who’ve chosen to stay, the kind messages, and the support from friends, family and this community.

It hasn’t always been easy (there’s a lot more behind the scenes than people see), but it’s been a real privilege to create a space where people can make memories that matter.

🧀 Beauty Beyond the Doorstep 🧀

We recently took a little trip out to the Wensleydale Creamery, and honestly, what a lovely day out.

Afternoon “cheesy tea”, a proper cheese-making demo, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the creamery itself. Unhurried, interesting, and (unsurprisingly) delicious.

It’s exactly the kind of experience that makes a stay here feel fuller, simple pleasures, local stories, and something a bit different to do for the day.

If you’re planning a visit to Bold Venture this year, we’d highly recommend adding it to your list.

Winter has a different pace up here.

We spent a few quiet days recently doing what this part of the world does best — open roads through the Dales, a wander around Hawes, a slow stop for coffee, and plenty of time with nowhere else to be.

It’s a good reminder of why people come here in the first place. Moments that matter don’t shout, they slow you down.

As the days stretch and thoughts turn to the year ahead, we’re gently opening the door to spring and beyond at Bold Venture Cottage.
