Rose of Cardiff Handmade Soaps and Collectible Crafts by Judith Ann I have over 30 years crafting in many different mediums and 9 years of soap making experience.

The name "Rose of Cardiff" was inspired by my Celtic background of Wales. Cardiff is the Capital of Wales and the name Rose is in honor of my sister in law Rosemarie who passed from breast cancer. She also had a Celtic background which inspired me to make my signature soap "Rose of Cardiff"s Rosemarie. There will be some very unique Artisan soaps offered in this line which will also have some soap

s designed for men. I will continue to offer my Standard line of soaps which will include but is not limited to, Lavender, Oatmeal Milk & Honey, Honey Almond, Bastile Goats Milk which is my best soap for people with sensitive skin. I prepare both cold process and hot process soaps in small batches using skin loving ingredients such as olive, coconut, palm,vegetable, castor oils, shea butter, tussah silk and I also have a line of milk soaps such as goats milk, buttermilk, coconut milk as well as greek yogurt. Organic oatmeal is added to some of my soaps as a natural exfoliant and skin soother for problem skin. All of my crafts are all individually hand painted by me, making them each unique and one of a kind. I work in different mediums such as sea shells, gourds, recycled glass and canvas.

Did you know?? Our Skin is the largest Organ on our body and what we put on it does go into our system. I make Handmade soaps because they are REAL soap. Store bought soaps are detergent bars, they are NOT soap. Mass produced soaps that you generally buy in a store, all of the natural glycerin is extracted from the bar and is used in high end face creams and such and then detergents are added back in. Keep that in mind when you use a cheap bar of detergent. Yes it may only cost $1 but have you really thought what is actually soaking into your skin?? What I find funny is that people will not even think twice to put out $5-6 for a Starbucks latte which you ingest at one sitting but think a bar of handmade soap which can last 1-2 months is expensive and is a lot better for you! Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

Rewarding: I have 4 people that I actually formulate a soap recipe especially for their skin issues and they have all told me their skin issues have improved. I make a special loaf of soap just for them. One of them mentioned she has gone off all steroids and medication for her skin issues. I don't make any claims as I am not a professional, but I do try to educate myself on ingredients that nourish the skin. I am always happy when someone says how much they love my soaps but I have to say it is very rewarding when someone says my soaps help them with their skin issues.

Please remember: When you look at my creations that I share and if you think, "that's kind of expensive", understand that these are ALL handmade items. Crocheted items take a lot of time to make and the yarn that I use is expensive. It is a chenille fluffy yarn and it is NOT easy to work with. The style crochet is called Amigurumi which originated in Japan. It is crocheted in the round and each row HAS to be counted. Some rows you have to increase, others decrease and if your stitch count is off you have to pull it out and try to figure where you messed up. They are filled with polyfill stuffing, and then there are safety eyes or hand stitched eyes. This all adds to the expense. I make these creations for the joy of the challenge but mostly to see someones eyes light up when they hold one of them and adopt it or they share it with someone else. They are not mass produced in a factory, each one is a little different and painstakingly hand made. Some items can take SEVERAL hours to a day or two to make. Please keep what I've shared in mind when you look at something I've created because when all is said and done if I factor in my time I make very little if anything on an item.
The Soaps I have tried to not increase my bar price even though my cost has gone up incredibly. The shipping alone on the coconut and sustainable palm oil that I purchase in 40lb containers, which used to be a 50lb container but they knocked off 10lb and charge the same, the shipping is over $100, then add the fragrances I use. One 10 bar loaf, the fragrance alone costs between $10-$15. The price of Olive Oil has almost doubled.. I formulate a quality bar of soap that is made with very good oils, I do not add filler oils to make a cheap bar and I use all cosmetically safe fragrances and colorants. I create what I do because creating is what I love to do but if you think I make a lot of money believe me that is NOT the case. I would rather make a quality product that I know people love and enjoy and may help their skin then cut cost for my benefit.

Due to a few circumstances I won't be making Christmas soaps this year. I have a VERY LIMITED stash of my regular soaps so if anyone is interested to purchase Soaps for gifts or yourself please PM me and I will let you know what is left. As mentioned supply is VERY limited. I will be making soaps again towards Spring but for now whatever I have is it.
