If you’re planning a trip to Europe then the Eurotunnel (or Le Shuttle) is one of the easiest ways to get there from the UK 🇬🇧

Here’s your handy guide -

📍 Arrival at Folkestone

First you go through an automated booth, check in using your booking reference & it prints a hanger for your mirror with your boarding group letter & number on it.

🛍 Head to the Duty Free Terminal
Follow the road signs to the Terminal. Inside there’s a few food options, & Duty Free shops. There are also toilets, seating areas & a small children's indoor soft play area. The screens inside advise on when it's your turn to board with plenty of time.

🛂 Passport Control

Once your group is called, head back to the car & follow the signs to the security checks. Usually you go straight through but sometimes cars are pulled aside for random boot checks. You'll then go through both UK & French passport control, all while staying in your car, just wind down the windows & hand over your passports - easy!

✋️ Boarding lanes

You’ll wait in a holding lane for your train. Follow the signs for your letter or if someone in your party holds a blue badge there is also a disabled line, the security staff will ask if you need any assistance in the event of an evacuation. You don’t usually wait too long here but there are toilets avaliable including a toilet area for any pets travelling with you too!

🚅 Drive onto the train

When it’s time, you’ll be directed straight onto the train & given the instructions to park up,
with your engine off. You'll stay in your car for the journey. (around 35 minutes) There are toilets within a short walk if needed.

🇫🇷 Arrive in France

You’ll come off the train just outside Calais & it’s straight onto the motorway! Remember to drive on the right hand side!
