Those of you who follow my stories and Instagram, know that I am away at the moment visiting the newly opened ikosresorts Kissamos in Crete.

I can honestly say, as far as family focussed all-inclusive resorts go, this has to be hard to beat!

Noah (who is a tough crowd to please) is having a great time and the children’s club here has been really inclusive in meeting his additional needs.

There is a great children’s and toddlers menu at all of the restaurants and the ice cream kiosk at the main pool is a spectacular hit with all the children and adults. Including delicious dairy free/vegan options.

From zero entry pools, splash pads, organic baby toiletries and beautiful cots, I really cannot fault the attention to detail.

Not needed to get up at dawn to reserve a sunbed by the pool and no flashing arcade games in sight - bliss!

Sadly I hear from many travellers who have used rogue sites and ended up arriving to no accommodation and or being scammed out of £££’s.

A recent Which? investigation into Booking.com highlights just how sophisticated fraudsters have become, from fake messages that look genuine to entire scam listings that leave people out of pocket and without a place to stay.

When you book through me, you are never just a reference number on a big platform. I personally vet trusted partners, double check the small print and payment details, and I am here to fight your corner if anything goes wrong.

As we head into our busy summer season for family holidays I just thought I would talk about price matching…

You can absolutely shop around for the cheapest holiday deal online, just like you might when buying a fridge freezer. But if that “bargain” appliance had no guarantee, no warranty, no real support and the risk that the price or specification could change before delivery, would you still feel confident pressing “buy now”?

Many big online travel companies promote eye‑catching prices, but often:
* The price you first see is not live, so it can jump when you go to book
* Luggage, transfers and seats are not included as standard, so the “deal” soon adds up
* There is very little genuine customer care or support if plans change or things go wrong

A quick search of reviews is often enough to see how frequently bookings are altered, costs increase or customers are left to sort out problems alone.

As your personal Travel Counsellor, I can often match or come very close to many online prices, but with some crucial differences:
* I check live pricing and availabilitythere and then
* I include the right luggage, transfers and extras from the start
* Your booking comes with protection, attention to detail and one dedicated point of contact who knows you and your plans

I always aim to be competitively priced, but I will not compromise on the level of care, detail and protection I provide just to match a price that is often not real in the first place. Gliding through warm, turquoise waters and spotting a sea turtle on the reef is one of those travel moments you never forget.

But our precious coral reefs and the turtles that depend on them are under real pressure from climate change, pollution and unsustainable tourism.

This World Turtle Day, here are simple ways you can protect coral reefs when you travel:
🪸 Choose reef‑safe sunscreen
Many standard sunscreens contain chemicals that are harmful to coral. Look for products labelled “reef-safe” or mineral-based, and cover up with rash vests and hats to reduce how much you need.

🐢 Respect marine life and never touch turtles or coral
Avoid chasing, touching or blocking the path of turtles and fish. Even a gentle kick with a fin can damage fragile coral, so practise good buoyancy and keep a safe distance.
🌊 Book responsible snorkel and dive experiences

Choose operators who brief you properly on reef etiquette, limit group sizes and follow strict environmental guidelines. Responsible boats will avoid anchoring directly on reefs and will never encourage feeding or touching wildlife.

🚯 Leave only bubbles
Take all litter back to shore, avoid single‑use plastics where you can and never throw anything overboard. Even something small like a plastic straw can be deadly to turtles.

🤝 Support local conservation
Look out for local reef restoration or turtle conservation projects, and consider joining a beach clean or making a small donation. Your visit can directly support the people protecting these ecosystems.
