Arrived to my first place to stay for 1 month set in the Western side of the Himalaya. It's called McLeod Ganj, in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.

Notice the lines of multicoloured Buddhist prayer flags in the foreground; these can be seen everywhere here as there is a big monastery which is a teaching hub for monks and nuns. His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama lives in the other big monastery close by in Dharamshala down the road in the next big village.

The AC means 'air conditioned' in the title Volvo AC. These are good buses. Comfortable. Unlike some old British ones used that are very rickety. Good if you fancy being shaken up a bit. They are similar to a massage as there is so much vibration when they are moving on the roads!

Before travel and at regulary intervals on route, there was these guys that came on to the bus and sold drinks and foods. Industrious.

You have lots of stops on route to your destination. Some delicious places to eat at. Curry cafes! Perfect.

I watched my first Hindi film on the bus journey!

The bus was packed with men, women and children: ordained Buddhists, Tibetans, Kashmiris, Indians, Westerners all travelling together peacefully.

12 hours travel in total throughout the night. Reclining seats helped us rest better and blankets were optional.

Here is another film clip of school children riding in a rickshaw in the bazzar in Amritsar. How many kids do you think could fit in a rickshaw?

Here is a short movie clip of some school children I met at the bazzar in Amritsar.

This ensemble of singer and musicians was a highlight of my trip in the Punjab. Wandering around the streets near the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the atmospheric Kathian Bazaar is where I stumbled upon this musical treat . A wonderful offering to my ears and soul.

On my travels in India, I found the tastiest food came from this region. This video was taken in the narrow streets in the bazaar next to the Golden Temple area of Amritsar. There is every trade imaginable in this warren of walkways and streets. Here is Indian food preparation. Chana Masala. The aroma of the food being made was mouth-watering.

Walking up towards the Golden Temple on the busy streets from the train station. It was very noisy and there were people and rickshaws A.K.A. 'tuk tuks' everywhere. This video clip captures the sound of the place.

Walking through the warren of busy narrow streets of the bazaar in Amritsar, I came across this fella. He and his brother were trades people. Artisans! I spent some time chatting with them. Friendly.

And, I thought it would be a good idea to put up a photo of a person who is a Sikh because of the previous post visiting the Golden Temple.

The Golden Temple is the Sikh 'heaven on earth'.

A place where Sikhs make their pilgrimage.

I thought it would be a good idea to up-load this video clip of the inside of this amazing achitectural wonder as it is mentioned so often in my feed.

I have never seen a building made from so much gold before!

I ate with the Sikhs for free. Everyone sits down on the floor and eats together. A beautiful expression of care and love for your fellow human beings. It was delicious food.

The Sikhs pray 24/7. You can hear prayer on this clip. I could hear the prayers drifting in to my hotel window morning, noon and night!

The best food was in the Punjab for me!

We ate two nights running at this tiny crack-in-the-wall of a place in the run down area next to the Golden Temple.

The menu was varied and the food tasty (NB check the prices on the menu below). The lime pickle was sublime and made my jowls ache. You might think it does not look tasty but you would be pleasantly surprised.

The owner was emotional when we informed him we had to leave for Mumbai the following day. I hope to return some day in the future.
