Think crystal-clear Adriatic waters, medieval walled towns, island-hopping adventures and long, lazy seafood lunches overlooking the sea… Croatia is one of Europe’s most effortlessly beautiful escapes.

From the iconic streets of Dubrovnik and the café culture of Split to the chic islands of Hvar and Korčula, Croatia blends history, luxury and laid-back Mediterranean charm perfectly.

✨ Turquoise coastline & hidden coves
✨ Elegant boutique hotels & luxury villas
✨ Incredible fresh seafood & local wines
✨ Historic old towns full of character
✨ Easy island hopping by boat

Whether you want sun-soaked relaxation, cultural exploration or stylish coastal living, Croatia delivers all of it — with a slightly more relaxed and authentic feel than some of the Mediterranean’s busier hotspots.

Perfect for couples, families, friendship groups and anyone craving that “just one more sunset” feeling.

One of our best ever family holidays was at Grecotel LUXME White in Rethymno, Crete.

We stayed in the Petit Yali seafront suites with a shared pool that felt wonderfully private. Light, airy, spacious suites, with the sea and the most incredible sunsets right in front of us. It struck that rare balance of being truly family friendly, yet still very chic and grown-up.

This 5 star all inclusive resort sits right on the beach just outside Rethymno, with loungers, bamboo umbrellas and even an adults-only section, plus a heated seawater pool, spa and activities from Pilates and yoga to water sports and tennis. The food was a real highlight, with buffet and multiple à la carte options from Cretan and Greek to Italian, Asian and Middle Eastern.

My girls are adults now, but for younger families it is brilliant: Grecoland kids’ clubs, children’s pool, activities and discos mean there is plenty to keep them busy while you relax and soak up those sunsets.

If this sounds like your kind of escape, send me a message and I will help you plan your own stay.

Before you dream about cocktails and sunsets, grab your passport and check the expiry date.

Different countries have different rules, but as a guide many destinations require a minimum of 3 or 6 months’ validity left on your passport on the date you arrive or depart.

Because the rules vary by destination and can change, always check the official Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advice for the country you are visiting.

You can’t rely on “extra” months from an old (maroon) passport. Some older UK passports had extra months added on if you renewed early. Many destinations will NOT count those extra months.

What matters is:

• The issue date of your passport
• The actual expiry date and how much time is left when you travel.

If your passport is close to expiring, or you are planning a big trip later this year or next, it is sensible to renew in good time rather than leaving it to the last minute.

If in doubt, get in touch and I can check the current guidance for your destination.
