Wooden giants rising from the storm. 🔥

Artist has turned devastation into beauty, sculpting incredible creatures from trees felled by Storm Vaia.

Each piece can be found at the top of iconic climbs in the area, and carry a deep message about resilience, nature’s power, and rebirth.

From the majestic Vaia Dragon to the newly completed Vaia Griffin in Tesino, just 50 km from Bassano del Grappa, these sculptures are placed in breathtaking panoramic locations, making them perfect stops on our cycling tours.

In Italy, the post-lunch nap (la pennichella or il riposino) is almost a sacred ritual. 😴

But why do Italians take a break in the middle of the day? Let’s dive into this beloved tradition...

It all started centuries ago when farmers and laborers, working under the scorching Italian sun, needed to rest during the hottest hours.
This habit became part of the culture, especially for cyclists after a challenging morning on the bike! 🚲

Don’t expect to find shops open in the early afternoon, especially in smaller towns.
Many Italians still embrace la pausa pranzo with a good meal followed by a well-deserved rest. 🍝

So, if you’re cycling through Italy and feel like taking a break, do as the locals do, enjoy a long lunch, find a shady spot, and recharge the batteries.

Gastronomic heaven in the volcanic hills!

In May this year, we were hosted by the extraordinary family-run farm, Il Pianzio, in the volcanic hills of Colli Euganei.📍

We savored their exquisite wines, delicious cold cuts, and focaccia. Our guests were well and truly impressed by the variety and quality of their products.

The team at Il Pianzio were incredibly attentive and accommodating, even sourcing special gluten-free and lactose-free products for one of our guests.

At Epic Italy, we always seek out niche wineries like Il Pianzio that are passionate about their work and the uniqueness of their territory. 🍷

NOBODY should work on their birthday...
..unless they work in the food and wine industry!

This weekend we celebrated the birthday of Ben, our cycle tour organiser. He chose to spend the day doing some "important research" around the Prosecco Hills. 🇮🇹

This included:
- Having an aperitivo tasting at a remote vineyard with one of the best views in the area
- Popping the cork of a bottle of Prosecco bought from a hilltop vending machine
- Eating incredibly well at a restaurant in the hills above Bassano del Grappa

All in all, a good day at the office! 🍷

We are excited to announce our first group tour through the incredible regions of Veneto and Trentino! 🚲

From the 11th to 19th of May, a small group will join us to explore the picturesque lakes of Garda and Levico, the beautiful city of Bassano del Grappa, the historic Beseno Castle and so much more! 🇮🇹

With 8 days of exploring mostly traffic-free roads, and 5 unique overnight stops, we will be immersed in stunning landscapes and challenged by a few optional hairpin climbs. For those who don’t like the steep stuff, there are worse places to wait than the shore of a crystal clear lake with a cup of Italian coffee. ☕

Indulge in great food and wine, breathtaking scenery, and surprises along the way! 🍷

Want to get someone addicted to cycling? Take them to conquer the Sella Ronda! 🇮🇹 The Sella Ronda cycling loop is a breathtaking 52km route through the heart of the Dolomites, circling the Sella massif and taking in four iconic mountain passes: Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella, Passo Gardena, and Passo Campolongo. We stayed at Camping Marmolada Malga Ciapela, and honestly, it's the perfect base. Waking up in the shadow of the Marmolada glacier with a slice of apple strudel before you set off – you can't beat it. The campsite's got everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the scenery is unbelievable. For lunch, we recommend stopping at Chalet Gerard. After tackling those mountain passes, we treated ourselves to cannederli, tagliatelle, gnocchi, and some delicious desserts. Plus, the views from the terrace aren't too shabby. It’s a great spot to relax and refuel.
