Buenas tardes desde una Barcelona no tan soleada :(

Barcelona is such a beautiful city but the muggy/clammy/close weather has really knocked me ill today.

We walked up Las Ramblas then onwards towards Sagrada Familia. It was extremely busy and this was at 10:00 this morning. There are 2 other large ships in port with us today, including Allure of the Seas, so a lot of people descended on the city at once.

***TOP TIP***
A return coach from outside of the Terminal costs €4.50 return. As we are docked in Terminal D, this is the best money I’ve spent all week! The walk would have been far too long with the uncomfortable heat, although in cooler climates it would have been more than manageable.

We head for a sea day to tomorrow before hitting Sardinia (bucket list destination for me). If the WiFi is strong enough I will share lots of ship content.

What a beauty. As she heads off to Genoa, our next port is Barcelona.

Sunset Bar has quickly become my favourite area on the ship. Situated at the back of deck 7 it’s perfect for sailaway, afternoon chilling and the cocktail menu is much bigger than at the other bars.

The booths are great little areas to hang out with your party or the separate table areas mean you can commune within smaller groups.

MSC World Europa is docked behind us today, in the Port of Marseille. We did briefly get off the ship, but I’ll be honest, I do not like the city so I got a picture and a fridge magnet and headed back to the ship.

Good Afternoon from Genoa, Italy.

First port of call, weather was a bit off this morning but we ventured off for a look around. There really isn’t much to do if I’m honest, the crowds flocked for the Aquarium but we headed into the historic centre.

Excursions for Portofino and Cinque Terra were full - another reminder to always book in advance if it’s something you really want to do.

So far, we are extremely impressed with Costa Cruises. The level of service has been exceptional, the food is delicious and the ship itself is so beautiful.

I finally managed to walk across the sea walk. 18 decks high and nothing but glass below.

It’s Cruise Day 🛳️

We’re currently on our coach journey from Rome City to Civitavecchia Port with an estimated journey time of 1 hour 25 minutes. If you don’t book your transfer in advance, this will be an expensive taxi ride. Roads are VERY busy in Rome so this really puts time on the journey too - remember this if booking independently, leave more than enough time to get to the ship.

My top tip for Rome would be don’t do just one day, it simply isn’t enough, especially if you’ve never been before. I did almost 26,000 steps yesterday and still didn’t get to see everything, we had to miss the Vatican City this time around. There are very good public transport links such as buses and the metro, but we opted to stay central and see as much as possible.

Also, typically when we were here there was no water in the Trevi Fountain as they were cleaning and performing maintenance!
