Stratford in East London has undergone intense regeneration since being a major site to host the London 2012 Olympic Games. Now home to West Ham United, Westfield Stratford City, London Aquatic Centre and Victoria and Albert Museum East. Worth a trip out.

#2016 travel snaps weren’t as curated as 2026. But it’s a trend so. It’s the travel year my love affair with Berlin was nurtured as they mourned the loss of David Bowie. I spent about a month working in Istanbul, but mainly saw one square mile. I visited Lille (and found a road named after me). Enjoyed mini breaks in Shropshire and Birmingham. Explored Devon and quintessential England and London lit up for the lumerie.
