Well that’s it season 19 has now come to an end!
Just wanted to say a massive thanks to all the goalkeepers we have worked with across the season, the effort and good attitude they have shown has made it a pleasure. I have always stated that as well as trying to develop their goalkeeping skills we want to help develop good people, that’s just as important if not more important.
A big thank you to all parents who bring their sons and daughters along and many who stand out in the winter weather watching and supporting their children, we couldn’t do this without you.
It goes without saying I also couldn’t do it without my coaches, and those that have helped this season, Martin Peters, Jack Copland, Charlie Barlow and unquestionably Stuey Hutfield. It’s fair to say Stuey probably deserves a statue erected for the years of service he has given us!
We have been going 19 years now, something I’m very proud of and I was looking back through some of my records the other day.
We have coached over 550 goalkeepers in that time
In the past 12 years alone we have had 399 sessions booked.
We have completed 375 of those sessions
We had to cancel 18 of them due to Covid/lockdowns
We have only actually cancelled 6 sessions due to extreme weather conditions
This shows a fantastic commitment throughout all weather elements over the years from all involved!
We have also over those 19 seasons now awarded 229 Goalkeeper of the Month awards, starting with Daniel Lawrence in September 2007 whose now got a mortgage, partner and kids of his own! So well done to all award winners over the years.
Enjoy the summer break and I will be advertising for places for our 20th season over the summer months with existing goalkeepers getting first options on a place to return, so will be in touch
I hope you all have a great Summer
