🏁 5 Things You NEED to Know So EES Doesn’t Take You Out of the Race!
The new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is about to change how non-EU travellers move in and out of Europe, and if you’re part of a racing team, driver, crew, or support staff crossing borders regularly… this one’s for you.
Here’s what you need to know 👇
1️⃣ Know your track limits – the 90/180-day rule isn’t optional
EES automatically tracks how long you’ve been in the Schengen Area. Once you hit 90 days within any 180-day period, that’s it, no more “forgot to count” excuses.
2️⃣ Get biometric-ready – face & fingerprints at the gate
Each time you cross an external Schengen border, your biometric data (facial image + fingerprints) will be recorded and linked to your passport.
3️⃣ Watch the rollout – it’s phased in
EES starts operating at many EU/Schengen external borders from 12 October 2025, with full rollout expected by April 2026.
4️⃣ Know the exemptions – but don’t assume you’re one
EU citizens, long-stay visa holders, and some work/study permit holders are exempt. But for many drivers, mechanics, and team personnel, EES will apply, so check your status before you pack.
5️⃣ Track your days like you track lap times
Overstaying will now trigger alerts automatically. Use a tracker or app to monitor your days, especially if you’re bouncing between multiple race events.
If you’re travelling with Race Away RPM, we’ll handle this for you, keeping you compliant, on time, and on track.
Expect delays during the transition period. Arrive early, stay patient, and don’t let border queues cost you precious race time.
Share this with your crew, teammates, and anyone travelling for races, better safe than side-lined! 🧳🏆
