Beware any company claiming to offer a "free" EPC as part of a transaction process. Always read the small print. There will always be a clause or penalty somewhere in the process!

Welcome to an energy efficient New Year. We hope you had a great Christmas and our tips helped you save a little money. Now it's worth thinking about this year. With the rise in prices, not only on petrol but on gas and oil too it is worth thinking about every penny you spend. Monitor your habits and be realistic. Do I need to leave this light on, this gadget on, or even do this journey? Save energy and save money.

Be realisitc in the amounts you plan to cook over Christmas. If you size what you want to eat for the actual amounts of people you are cooking for, then you will avoid wastage and avoid paying to cook more food than you can and will eat. Every piece of cooked food you throw away is a waste of your money!

Back with another Festive Tip: Unlike Fridges your freezer works best when at least 75% full. The less space inside the more efficient the motor runs. Also make sure you defrost your freezer occasionally as if you have lots of ice around the sides and top you are straining the motor more.

Todays Tip: Try to avoid overfilling your Fridge. Fridges need to have the air circulating to work at their best. If you over fill the fridge the motor has to work harder to keep the fridge cool, costing you energy and money. Also think about defrosting food in the fridge as it will help to make the fridge nice and cool, reducing the energy you need! Just remember your food hygiene rules!!!

With Christmas fast approaching we will be offering some energy saving tips for the Christmas period. Today: Try to remember to only use Christmas lights when you'll actually be able to see them and benefit from them! Otherwise you are just paying for lights noone will see! Consider buying some low energy LED ones to cut your use further!
