Groovy Party on the Common
Party on the Common Returns for a Summer Celebration
Thetford Town Council is excited to announce the return of Party on the Common this summer, bringing a vibrant celebration of music, memories, and family fun to Thetford.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, 13th June 2026, from 2 PM to 8 PM, embracing a lively 1960’s and 1970’s theme that offers something for all ages to enjoy.
Two Main Areas to Explore
The event will feature two dedicated entertainment areas. On the Main Stage, visitors can enjoy a full program of live music from talented local acts, along with a DJ spinning Northern Soul and Motown classics. The day will be headlined by the funk band The High Points.
The Kids’ Area promises a packed schedule of activities, including Carl the Bubble Car, a children’s disco hosted by Go Awesome Events, and a live show – The Extraordinary Time-Travelling Adventures of Baron Munchausen by The Time Travelling Baron. Dino2Hire will also be on hand to entertain guests with a stand and roaming dinosaurs throughout the day.
More to See and Do
Visitors can explore a display of classic vehicles or discover the special museum tent celebrating Thetford in the 1960’s and 1970’s. A period that saw major changes in the town, including new housing developments, the London overspill, and the filming of the beloved sitcom Dad’s Army. The tent will feature an array of photographs that vividly bring that era back to life.
There will be no shortage of refreshments, with a wide range of food options, including pie and mash, burgers, pizza, hog roast, fish and chips, desserts, and coffee. Vendors include Brookakery, Piggin Out, and Wood Fire Pizzas, among many others. Two bars will be on-site: one serving beer and real ale, and the other offering prosecco and cocktails.
Families can also enjoy face painting, balloon modelling, and a variety of community and charity stalls with Larry Gray and Sons funfair bringing children’s rides and a traditional fairground atmosphere.
Residents are encouraged to get involved by dressing in the styles of the 60s and 70s.
Party on the Common is free to attend; come and celebrate Thetford’s heritage with a day of live music, entertainment, and community spirit. We hope to see you there on the 13th June!
