Blackpool's Pleasure Beach Resort Beach has been named as the top holiday destination most likely to get kids happily off their screens this summer 🥳

Experts at Attraction Tickets analysed hundreds of thousands of reviews from over 160 popular holiday destinations to find the spots where most parents said their kids loved it and the fewest said they were bored.

This, combined with general ratings and search volume popularity, created The Banish Boredom Index, revealing the best holiday destinations for families that want to keep their children entertained in 2025.

Pharmacy First at Talbot Road Pharmacy 🥼

Pharmacy First is a scheme that was launched in England, Wales and Scotland last year, allowing participating pharmacies to prescribe medication, including antibiotics, for certain common medical conditions without patients having to wait for a GP appointment.

There are seven health conditions that pharmacists can offer treatment for if you are eligible. These include acute sore throat, acute sinusitis, infected insect bites or stings, shingles, impetigo, acute otitis media (earache), and UTIs.

Big news - The Blackpool Tower, the most famous landmark in town, will be managed by the council’s wholly-owned tourism company, Blackpool Tourism Limited.

This includes Blackpool Tower Eye, Blackpool Tower Circus, Blackpool Tower Ballroom, The Blackpool Tower Dungeon and Madame Tussauds Blackpool. The company will take over management from Friday, August 1st, and will operate them alongside Sandcastle Waterpark Blackpool and Showtown Blackpool.

This will replace the management of these attractions by Merlin Entertainments, which has operated them on behalf of the council since 2010.

Kate Shane, Managing Director of Blackpool Tourism Limited, said: “Collaboration will be the golden thread running through the new company, bringing together the resort’s amazing tourism businesses, creating compelling reasons to visit and stay in Blackpool ahead of other destinations. We will support the sector to deliver world-class experiences, and by working together, we will drive awareness to re-engage lapsed visitors and reach those that have yet to see everything that Blackpool has to offer.”

Today is the last day of the Blackpool Comedy Festival, and what an absolute hoot it has been 🤣

From family-friendly comedy on the Promenade to stand-up performances, street comedy, improv, drag comedy, and so much more, it’s been a hilarious celebration of Blackpool’s creativity, community and character throughout the town centre.

Catch the laughs at Blackpool Comedy Festival 🤣

The Comedy Festival has been absolutely incredible so far, and our town has been buzzing with laughter and a fantastic atmosphere. From seasoned comedians to brilliant street acts and up-and-coming talent, the festival has showcased why Blackpool is the UK’s comedy capital.

There’s still time to join the fun as St John’s Square will transform into an open-air arena of laughter, spectacle and world-class entertainment this Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st.

From 11am until 5pm both days, there will be back-to-back performances from comedy street performers, physical comedians, and interactive entertainers who will deliver jaw-dropping stunts, high-energy comedy, and unforgettable audience interactions.

From hilarious improv acts to mind-blowing circus skills and slapstick routines, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
