New Service From London City Airport:-

TAP has launched a new service from London City Airport to Lisbon, in addition to its services already available from Heathrow and Gatwick. Available now for sale, the new route will operate from 29 October 2017, with two daily flights from Monday to Friday and one daily flight on weekends.

With the new addition to its network, TAP becomes the only airline to offer the route between London City, located in the financial heart of the capital, and the cosmopolitan destination of Lisbon, making short breaks and travel for both business and leisure even more convenient for those starting their journey in London.

The direct flights between London City and Lisbon will operate with an Embraer 190 aircraft, with a seat capacity for 106 passengers.

By offering flights to its hub of Lisbon from the three major London airports, London City, Heathrow and Gatwick, TAP is able to provide a variety of travel options to passengers exploring Portugal as their final destination, as well as further connecting the UK traveller to its extensive intercontinental network, across Africa, North, Central and South America.

British Airways Executive Club Changes

From 14 June, British Airways are re-introducing free seat reservation for Bronze, Silver and Gold Members on a Basic (previously known as Hand Baggage Only) fare. British Airways will be proactively refunding any seating fees to customers with an upcoming booking on or after 14 June back to their original form of payment. The customer’s seat request will remain in the booking after they have refunded the seating fee. The refunds will be processed in travel date priority order from 14 June and could take up to 28 days to process.

Another change BA will soon be introducing benefits for Bronze, Silver and Gold Members on maternity, paternity or adoption leave can benefit from a ‘status freeze’ for a year. In addition, they can receive 1,000 bonus Avios if they open a new EC account for the baby as part of their Household Account.

And finally, all UK Executive Club Members can register their credit or debit card in eStore and collect Avios for in-store purchases with a number of retailers.

Air Canada - LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL 6 MOVE

The Air Canada check-in area will be conveniently located immediately upon entering Terminal 6 at the departures level

Effective May 17, 2017, Air Canada flights out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be relocating to Terminal 6 (from Terminal 2*).

The Air Canada check-in area will be conveniently located immediately upon entering Terminal 6 at the departures level.

Customers can print their boarding pass at one of the 14 self-service check-in kiosks before proceeding to one of the baggage drop-off counters to deposit any checked bags. From there, they can head to the expanded security screening area, then onward to their gate.

At Terminal 6, regularly scheduled Air Canada flights will depart from gates 68A, 68B and 69B.

Air Canada Maple Leaf™ Lounge

A state-of-the-art Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge will also be opening its doors on the mezzanine level of Terminal 6 on May 17, 2017. There, as with all our Maple Leaf Lounges, eligible customers can relax and re-energize in luxury prior to boarding their flight.

Alitalia Latest Update

Alitalia is to enter bankruptcy proceedings after its employees rejected a plan to restructure the troubled Italian airline.

The carrier said its flights would continue to operate as normal while administrators try to come up with a financial rescue package.

Its employees have already voted against a plan to cut jobs and salaries, which would have allowed Alitalia to secure new funds.

Alitalia said in a statement that Italian shareholders and Etihad, which owns 49% of the airline, had been 'committed to recapitalise and finance the plan with €2 billion euros', but that without the approval of workers, it could not go ahead.

The Italian government has given Alitalia €6 billion over 10 years and it has given the airline a €400 million bridging loan to allow it to keep operating during the bankruptcy process, but it has ruled out re-nationalising or providing further funds.

Delta Adds Premium Economy Cabin

Delta has plunged into the world of the premium economy traveller. Dubbed ‘Delta Premium’ the premium economy complements the new International Delta One, Delta Comfort+ and main cabins. Available on select international routes, passenger will be treated to a true premium economy cabin

So while the hard product stacks up, how do the American and Delta cabins compare? Well to be honest, 38″ seat pitch and 19″ wide (with the aisle armrest being able to be lowered for extra comfort. they are pretty much identical, each providing a slight tweak on the soft product offering. Onboard Delta, passengers will find the same wider seat, additional recline and an adjustable footrest and leg rest that is expected in such a premium cabin.

Arriving in late 2017, the new product will offer Alessi branded plated meals and a dedicated flight attendant as well as Westin Heavenly In-Flight Blanket with pillow and a TUMI amenity kit featuring Malin+Goetz Travel Essentials, 13.3-inch, high resolution in-flight entertainment screen, in-seat power and Sky Priority service.

The cabin will be introduced on the airline’s Airbus A350s entering service this year. Delta A350s will feature 48 Delta Premium seats, as well as 32 Delta One suites and 226 Main Cabin seats. Delta Premium will roll out on its Boeing 777 fleet beginning in 2018. Additional fleets may be added.

Cathay Opens London Heathrow Lounge – And It Feels Like Home

Cathay Pacific have finally previewed their latest outstation lounge in Terminal 3 of London’s Heathrow Airport. Featuring separate First and Business Class areas, the London lounge which has been long awaited, matches the design template that Stusdioilse has brought to the other recent lounge openings.

The lounge, which officially opened its doors on 7th December 2016 features separate First and Business Class areas and is the only Cathay Pacific lounge outside of Hong Kong with these distinct zones. This highlights the importance of the London market to Cathay Pacific, where there is already considerable brand recognition due to its 5 daily Heathrow flights as well as Manchester and Gatwick routes that recently started.

The airline has managed to increase the footprint of the lounge. At 1,200 square metres, the new London lounge is 30 per cent larger than its predecessor. Although the lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows providing panoramic views of the airport’s apron and northerly runway, all eyes will initially be turned inwards, to the new furniture and interior design the lounge is boasting.

Naturally, being a new generation Cathay lounge similar to Bangkok, Haneda (Tokyo), Manila, Taipei and Vancouver, the space offers a calming environment and myriad of amenities that reflect Cathay Pacific’s brand ethos of a “Life Well Travelled”.

The London lounge has taken design cues from Cathay’s The Pier First Class lounge. In addition to LHR’s ‘The Dining Room’, which offers table service with freshly prepared dishes made-to-order by the chef, there is also The Pantry, where visitors can enjoy grab-and-go delicacies with items changing throughout the day.

The Business Class area, meanwhile, is no less impressive, featuring Cathay Pacific’s signature Noodle Bar and introducing ‘The Food Hall’, a vibrant space offering a wide range of Western and international dishes, including traditional British fare. There is also a full-service bar.

The lounge is further equipped with bespoke Solo Chairs, eight shower suites, giving First and Business Class passengers a calm and stress-free environment in which to unwind before their journeys, and The Bureau for those who may need somewhere quieter to work.

“Adorned with an abundance of plants and specially sourced artwork by noted Chinese artist Han Feng, this is a lounge that truly engages the senses, one that exemplifies the high regard that the airline places in Heathrow as a destination,” states the press release.

Cathay Pacific’s Heathrow stunning new lounge is open to First and Business Class passengers, Silver or above Marco Polo Club members, and Sapphire or above oneworld members. Opening hours are from 5:30am from Monday to Saturday and 7:30am on Sunday until 10:30pm.
