Wow!! Very happy to be a small part of this fantastic achievement 💛

Just wow!!

It's all go on the East Ruston Cottages Auction Page with over £4100 raised in just 24 hours - I think for our first auction that's going to take a lot of beating, and we still have 6 days to go!

Good thing new lots are coming in, including an amazing Emma Bridgewater selection donated by Manor Barn Norfolk so that we can keep the bidding going.

💬 One of the questions we are most often asked by our guests is 'why did you decide to move to Norfolk?' I think for many of you, the reason is self-explanatory. Norfolk is always a good idea! Why wouldn't we?

🗯 But what I think they're really asking is, 'What made you give up your career, move over a hundred miles away, leave your dream home, to start all over again?'

🐶 The simple answer is that it was all about the dogs. That comment, 'if we lived here we could have as many dogs as you want,' was throwaway, but it sparked the notion that life could be lived differently. The house gave us the opportunity to do that. (This makes it sound easy, it wasn't! We had to fight and scrape and dig very deep and then fight some more to make it happen).

🏡 As soon as we made the decision to convert the barn into a holiday cottage, we knew we wanted Manor Barn to be that same opportunity, even if only for a short while, for all our guests to live life a little differently. ⏳️ Time to hit pause on life's stresses and demands. And to do it all in luxurious comfort knowing your dogs are just as welcome as you are. Secure spaces for dogs to run free and live their best lives.

🏆 That was the holy grail for us when we were searching for holiday cottages, and it's our No1 guiding principle in everything we do at Manor Barn.

🙏 I hope you'll agree we get it (mostly) right.

Hands up, who likes a bit of pampering on holiday? 🖐 I'm not talking spa treatments. I'm talking about a healthy dose of luxury in the everyday things we touch and use.

The softest, fluffy towels; big bathrobes that envelop you in soft white clouds when you step out of the roll top baths 🛀; a fully equipped kitchen with decent pans, sharp knives and a cupboard full of crockery that almost has its own fan club 🍽; crisp white bed linen and the comfiest mattresses; natural linens and wools 🐑 on the sofas and beds. Do I need to go on?

And if all this talk of white and linen terrifies the dog owners out there, please don't let it! Everything in the barn is designed to stand up to the rigours of our 'sandy paws, muddy boots' 🐾 🥾 philosophy that we believe is essential for a stress-free holiday.

Beautiful, still August evenings.

We had the young hare who's taken up residence in our garden, slowly hop across the drive this evening inspecting the flower beds, and then a family of partridge climbed onto the roof of the garage for a pow-wow. All the joys of countryside living 🥰

Remember when I told you about Norfolk being pub and foodie heaven? Well, The Times says, 'Norfolk has per capita ... more perfect pubs than any other British county'.

According to the newspaper, these are 8 best pubs in Norfolk, 3 of which are within 25 minutes drive of Manor Barn and all serving great food and ale. Personally, my preference is a glass of something white, dry, and cold - bubbles are always a bonus, and if it's produced here in Norfolk, then that's a double win! (Our exceptional Norfolk vineyards is a story for another day)

I'd add 2 other local dining pubs to this list - The Suffield Arms and The Ingham Swan.

Ever wondered what a winter's break at Manor Barn would be like? Then wonder no more! Our latest review tells you all about it:

♡ Log burner with unlimited firewood - for free!
♡ Huge, piping hot, cast iron radiators
♡ Two roll top baths and lashings of hot water for long soaks in the tub after brisk walks in the winter sunshine
♡ Loads of cosy throws, comfy sofas, and free Netflix on the large TV for some serious loafing
♡ Covered outside seating and dining area for that inside/outside vibe
♡ Large bootroom for dumping all that outdoor gear and hard floors throughout, so no need to worry about muddy boots or sandy paws
♡ and if all that isn't enough, dogs stay for free!

It's been a corker of a day here in Norfolk. Smooth changeover today (thank you lovely outgoing guests 😚) ably supervised by my trusty assistant from the shade of the apple tree (waiting for windfall), a couple of bookings came in (happy dance!) and now a glorious warm weekend stretching ahead of us. My folks are arriving for a few days this weekend, and I can't wait to see them - it's been a while.

No whimsical or evocative caption (not that I'm good at those anyway!). We have a couple of weeks left this summer and I don't want Manor Barn to sit empty when she could be enjoyed by someone.
