More of the spectacular countryside accessible within a short drive of Primrose Cottage.
This time the beautiful Ladybower Reservoir...an idyllic spot for hiking, biking or picnicking.
My path today was a quick 6 miles from the lay-by at Ashopton Viaduct on the A57. Taking an anti-clockwise route around the northern part of the lake, via the iconic Derwent Dam...famous as the location for the low level practise flights of the Dambusters mission in WW2.

I absolutely love meeting everyone who comes to stay at Primrose Cottage, and when guests return for another visit it genuinely warms my cockles - especially when they say such nice things!. There really is no greater compliment a host could receive ☺️

The garden at Primrose Cottage is an oasis of colour at the moment. With a choice of seating and spots for outdoor dining it's a great place to relax with a book, plan an adventure in hills, partake of a glass of something fortifying or fire up the barbecue.

It's lovely to see the garden come back to life again and flowers start to bloom...a little later than usual because of the cold start to the season, but it was worth the wait for the scent from this rose alone. I'm not sure the permanent residents are too happy with my new decorative, yet chicken proof fences though!

Maybe it's my age, but I've realised in recent years that I absolutely love gardening. I'm still at the trial and error/make lots of mistakes point on my journey to fully green thumb status, but the process of transforming my outside space from rubble and w**d strewn jungle to colourful and peaceful oasis has brought me so much joy and my hope is it brightens the day a little of those passing by too.
It's not quite there yet...I've many ideas still to realise but the images in my head are starting to emerge and that makes me happy.

Thank you to the lovely lady who posted my tulips on a local fb page, it made my day 😊

I'm so happy! How lovely is this review from a recent guest...?

"When looking for a place to stay we almost avoided this one as it seemed to good to be true and too cheap if anything. We needn't have worried, you will love everything about Primrose Cottage, the owners were lovely, the cottage had everything you need and more. We were welcomed with an extensive hamper of goodies including bread, croissants, beer, wine, homemade jam, 6 fresh laid eggs with butter and milk in the fridge and tea and coffee on hand. Every room was spacious and immaculately clean with fresh flowers in most areas. There was Netflix available on the TV and the large bed was very comfortable. A large pleasant outside area had private sitting area where you can talk to the 5 beautiful hens and plenty of room for your car. Sorry if you think I've left a long review but it really does deserve a good review and we shall be going again."
