I was even treated to a look below the bar at The Bingley Arms 953ad to an old taproom that is no longer there after the floor was lowered… quite chilling down there to be fair and you can still see the old priest holes…

So… The Bingley Arms 953ad is quite special…I headed through to the North side of the city and out to the village of Bar...

So… The Bingley Arms 953ad is quite special…

I headed through to the North side of the city and out to the village of Bardsey where there is a 1000 year old stone pub that also lays claim to being the UKs oldest... 'The Bingley Arms' dates back to 953AD...although evidence suggests it may be even older witn 905AD also being mentioned...
Having previously been known as 'The Preiests Inn' it wasn't given its current name until 1780 when it was purchased by Lord Bingley... it's certainly a sight to behold and has a lovely menu and a friendly welcome for all... oh... and rumour has it they have a number of friendly spirits still patrolling the halls...

I am back off to LEEDS where it's gonna be a day of ticking off some more pubs dotted around the city that haven't been ticked off before! I'm also gonna head up to the village of BARDSEY to visit another of the UKs oldest pubs 'The Bingley Arms'

I've been screaming this for YEARS now...

How many of us started off our working lives in hospitality? Bar, waiting staff, kitchen etc?

We've already lost the majority of retail shops on our High Streets so kids today already have limited places to learn to mix in the adult, working world...

Learning how to deal with/serve people of all ages and from all walks of life is invaluable and the next generation will end up with NOWHERE to learn these skills if we allow this to continue...
