Bamburgh Castle is located on the coast of Northumberland, England

Bamburgh Castle began as a Celtic fort known as Din Guarie, likely established by the native Britons. It was later taken over by the Anglo-Saxons and became a royal seat of the Kings of Northumbria.

The castle’s location made it a vital defensive site against invaders, including the Vikings.

After the Norman Conquest, the castle was rebuilt in stone and expanded by the Normans, establishing the basic structure seen today. Over the years, it continued to evolve with additional fortifications and renovations under different rulers.
