Meet Karen and Dalton, one of our wonderful host families from Westbury who started hosting with us in early 2024.

💬 What Prompted You to Start Hosting?
"We decided to start hosting as Dalton is homeschooled, and it has introduced him to different cultures and languages. It also fits in nicely with my part-time job and gives us a bit of extra income."

💬 What’s Your Favourite Thing About Hosting?
"We’ve had some lovely students over the last few months, and Dalton has enjoyed having more children to play with and keep in touch with. It’s been great to learn more about them, their cultures, and their countries."

💬 What Were You Most Nervous About Before Hosting?
"Before hosting, I was worried about the children being homesick, not being able to communicate, or not liking our food. But that just wasn’t the case! All of the other hosts are lovely and have provided us with lots of hints and tips. I would definitely recommend hosting students if you have spare space and time in the mornings and evenings - it slots in perfectly with our routine."

Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️ It’s the perfect time to reflect on the things we love - and for us, one of those things is hosting!

From cultural exchange to having much needed company in the evenings, hosting has brought lots of joy to our host families.

We asked a few of our hosts why they love hosting, and here’s what they had to say:

✨ “I have been hosting since 2019 throughout Warminster, Westbury and Trowbridge. I have enjoyed meeting all the new students that I host and trying to improve my French. You also feel part of a small community with all the other local hosts. The local coordinators are great and very approachable for any questions or queries you may have.”

✨ "I became a host for Wiltshire Host Families back in 2019. We’ve enjoyed so many wonderful experiences since then! We are retired with more bedrooms than we need and hosting has helped us stay in the 4 bedrooms house we love. That’s the financial side, I cannot tell you how much fun we’ve had with our students. Each group is different and many of them stay in touch after they leave…… showing what an impact we have on their lives and they on ours."

✨ "We are half way through our second hosting experience with Wiltshire Hosting Families and we are having a great time. Our 9 year old daughter and our little dog love having a house full of students and they’ve all been so polite. We have been well supported by our Coordinator Craig and the drop offs and pick ups have been easy."
