Did you know that we are part of a family of 20 National Trails in the UK which would not exist if it wasn’t for the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act that was passed on this day 75 years ago?

It is impossible to understate the importance of this brilliant piece of legislation. It has changed hundreds of thousands of lives and our wildest landscapes for the better through its creation of National Trails, National Parks, National Landscapes and National Nature Reserves.

And that word National is of real importance. These have been created for everyone in our country to enjoy.

Please join us in celebrating this milestone and share your photos of and memories of the Yorkshire Wolds Way since it launched in 1982.

Its been a lovely day and a great pleasure to show everyone the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds and our great National Trail.

This morning’s meeting point: the stunning Grade 1 listed St. Mary’s Church in Huggate. A huge thank you to the church for opening their doors to welcome our group. We’ll be back here post-hike for some well-deserved tea and cake. Isn’t it beautiful? 🏞️🍰

Today we’re exploring the stunning Yorkshire Wolds Way, with its breathtaking dry chalk valleys and historic sites. What a way to enjoy the great outdoors together! 🌳
