After successfully running both our B&B rooms for 5 years we made the desicion to expand the business by converting some of our land to take 4 glamping pods. This is a style of accommodation that is growing in popularity, and we felt it would really suit what we already offering.
The pods were ordered in January 2018 and delivered all the way from Derby on 2 articulated trailers. But they were not allowed over the hill from Dalwhinnie to Laggan so had to stop at Dalwhinnie and the pods lifted onto a smaller lorry. Each one of them was brought over the hill with and es**rt, and craned into position onsite.
We then had less then a week to get all the services attached, fit the gas combi boilers and build the timber decks, before our first customers were due to arrive. Our very first pod guests arrived on Easter Friday 2018 and had driven all the way from Belgium. By Easter Monday the other 3 pods were full, and that was how the rest of the year progressed. Our guests on the whole loved the pods, and really appreciated the finer touches that we had included. Full central heating, power showers, en-suite bathrooms, separate bedrooms with quality mattresses, Smart LCD tv’s with Netflix and I-Players, full cooking facilities, fridges, and inside and outside seating for 5 people.

The final part of the project was the installation of our BBQ pod. This was to allow our guests to cook either outside on their decks, or inside if the weather was inclement. The BBQ pod was delivered in May 2018 and completed in 2 weeks, and has provided guests from all over the world a fantastic indoor BBQ ing experience. For guests that are walking or cycling we can provide BBQ packs and charcoal, so after a long days treking, all they need for dinner is in their fridge waiting for them.

The seating in the BBQ pod was upgraded early in 2019 by the same company that provided the seating in the pods. We choose a navy blue leather with cream piping and the whole party experience was completed with some subtle LED floor lights as well as halogen uplighters.

Following feedback from our first year we have introduced a takeaway style breakfast menu for the pods, which is also included in the B&B as a room service menu. Guests can choose from the individual items on the menu, which range from homemade birchers muesli, freshly baked all butter croissants, bacon, sausage and scooby snack rolls. Along with cereal boxes, fresh orange or apple juice, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

To futher enhance the experience for our younger guests, we have installed a multi-play play park which is right outside the pods. The beauty of this is that the children can play as long as they want, whilst their parents enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer on the decks of the Pods.
