Did you know Trafalgar Square is home to London’s tiniest police station?

Built in the 1920s, it was designed as a lookout during protests and to keep an eye on the crowds.

It’s so small, only one officer could fit at a time. Inside, it once had a direct phone line to Scotland Yard and space for just one person - no desk, no chairs, just standing room.

Today, it is no longer in use, but it’s still there, tucked into a corner of the square. Most people walk past without even noticing it.

Next time you’re at Trafalgar Square, see if you can spot it.

Have you ever noticed the ‘CC’ sign on the lampposts around the city Westminster?

There’s a long-standing story that Coco Chanel’s initials were secretly engraved on some of them because of her rumoured relationship with the Duke of Westminster in the 1920s–30s.

Most historians, though, believe it’s a coincidence, and the double Cs actually stand for the City Council, while the ‘W’ marks the city of Westminster itself.

But here’s where it gets more intriguing: during WWII, Coco Chanel was rumoured to have worked as a N**i spy, with the codename ‘Agent Westminster.’

True or not, it’s one of those little details that make you see London’s streets differently once you notice it

Forget 007, real London spies used tricks you could walk past without seeing!🕵️🪙

Dead drops in plain sight. Messages hidden in chalk marks. Pints that carried coded signals. Even coins that opened to reveal secret instructions.

These were the real tools of espionage, and many of their hiding spots still linger in London’s streets and pubs.

Once upon a time, London had many statues of Henry VIII 👑

But over the centuries, nearly all vanished.

Most were destroyed in the 17th century during the English Civil War, when Parliamentarian forces (who opposed the monarchy) tore down or defaced royal symbols. Statues of monarchs were seen as reminders of royal power at a time when England was fighting to limit it.

Others were simply lost to time - removed as buildings changed hands, damaged, or replaced when fashions and politics shifted.

Today, only one outdoor statue of the infamous king survives in the entire city.

Hundreds of years later, it still watches over London, a lone reminder of the monarch who reshaped England forever.
