Our gardener has been unfaithful. He loves « la belle » more than ours. Good friends are the cause of all this. Even after an eye-wateringly expensive service it is their 50yr old e-type which is ´la belle voiture qu’il aime le plus❤️’
However we have enjoyed our air-con driving up to Lac Ste Croix which being higher is a besutiful picnic spot on a hot day.

It’s hot today but the house is so much more able to cope than the UK. As well as aircon in all the bedrooms nothing quite beats a midnight swim when the pool is still 31 degrees and the cicadas are making music.

Les Hauts Saints is remarkably quiet and in the morning and evening all you hear is birds. My favourite to see is the Hoopee, think of a cross between Trump, a magpie and a punk hairstyle. Sitting on the terrace I can smell the jasmine and enjoy the geraniums and limequat. (Cross of lime and kumquat, great in a G&T or a thai curry).
My friend introduced me to the Merlin app. So far it has identified 21 different bird song:

Our superb local winery. It’s a joy to cycle past the vineyard and pass Bastide de Pres on the way to the village shop every day. The best Provençal rosé, we give two bottles in our renters welcome basket, bread and cheese, and some of our own olive oil. Along with the sun and the pool you have all you need!

The garden has had its annual débroussaillage, (a severe haircut with an industrial strimmer). All of a sudden the garden seems bigger but browner. It is a legal obligation to do this to prevent forest fires. It probably won’t rain again till October.

Stunning olive flowers this year. I hope it means a heavy harvest. We went straight from rain and chilly to dry and hot. The pool heater is already off by 9 am and we are sitting out in shorts all evening. The new tonnelle bamboo over the bbQ terrace is a definite improvement.

Village Mechoui evening (roasted lamb), very well attended with music and good company. The village organises lots of events all summer.

Lovely time with the family at Easter. Teddy use the path, much kinder on the feet!

Everywhere is so green after a wet colder spring but summer has arrived. First swim in mid April, veg patch planted and a promising fig harvest. So good to return to cafe life.

Spring is not quite sprung but well on the way. In another month or so it will be almost over.
We are still lighting a fire at night but the cafes have put all their tables out on the pavement and everything is waking up.

The froglets are enjoying the sun in their new home. We celebrated at another new restaurant in Lorgues, Antre Nous. Definitely a new favourite.

Absolutely wonderful weather continued for our trip. The Lorgues mill has closed so we took our 70.6kg of olives to Cotignac and then enjoyed a lunch in Café du Cours. A first this week when we went up to Tourtour and it was warm enough to picnic outside in December. Stunning views.
