Today is National Walking Day, but I'm slightly curious as to why it should be for just one day when we get outside and reconnect with the natural world?

My love of walking has taken me to lots of fabulous places across the world, here in the UK and further afield.

Why do I love it so much? It has so many benefits:
seeing the world at a much slower pace
seeing places that you wouldn't see from a car window
being in the moment, smelling the flowers, listening to the birds, taking in the amazing scenery
making connections with other walkers and locals
breathing in fresh air
exercise
Putting things into perspective - being outdoors helps me solve problems, and they never seem quite so bad
Gives me much needed time out from running a busy travel business
Good for my mental wellbeing
Great for physical wellbeing
Low environmental impact

If you want to feel the same level of benefit, why don't you think about booking a walking holiday this year?

I can help source the right holiday for you; single centre, hotel to hotel, selfguided, guided, multiactivity, walking and local culture, walking and food, with different levels to suit you. Solo, couple, group of friends, walking or hiking club. All you have to do is just bring your walking boots and a small rucksack. 🥾🥾

My next walking supplier is Inntravel, a fairly recent addition to our portfolio of walking specialists.

So what do Inntravel do?

They are pioneers and specialists in self-guided holidays, including walking, cycling and Journeys by rail.
•For five years in a row, Inntravel has been endorsed as the only Which? Recommended Provider for self-guided tours.
•They have over 40 years of experience and meticulously plan every itinerary.
•They walk every route of their 300+ holidays, which span the UK, Europe, and Channel Islands, visiting all the hotels themselves.
•They champion authentic, sustainable travel, taking customers to off-the-beaten-track locations, routes, and quieter corners.

Inntravel offer a mix of centre based holidays, with or without car hire, hotel to hotel trails, winter walking. If you like just going at your own pace, either by yourself, with your partner or a friend and quite like the idea of moving on from one place to the next, this is a great way to go on a walking holiday. All your main luggage is transported between your accommodation and route notes are provided.

So, will it be challenging hikes, coastal walks, gentle lakeside walks, off the beaten track walks, or will you choose a winter walk with those snowcapped mountains, and crisp snow under your boots? 🥾🥾

I'm going to do a bit of a 'walking' theme on my socials this week.

I've been a keen hiker for years, and hubby & I always try and get out into the fresh air with our boots on every Sunday. We also spend some of our holidays walking long distance trails, so it's quite fitting for me that it's 'National Walking Day' on Wednesday.

I thought I'd start by sharing the walking suppliers that I'm partnered with, which means that you can book all their walking, hiking and trekking holidays with me. First up is Inghams, lovers of all things outdoors, including skiing and walking holidays.

I worked as a holiday rep for Inghams for both their winter ski and summer lakes and mountains programmes for a number of years, so I know they offer a great holiday.

Inghams - Stay and walk holidays. These outdoor holidays are ideal if you don't want the hassle of packing and repacking every night. Simply choose the destination you want and the type of accommodation. There'll be plenty of good walks locally for you to choose from along with other relaxing activities, such as boat cruises. There'll even be a choice of excursions to nearby places of interest that you can prebook, or book in resort. Some resorts even offer guided walks. You choose exactly how active you want to be. Usually holiday durations are 7, 10 or 14 nights but they do have some shorter durations too.

Destinations include Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Andorra, France, Slovenia, Madeira, and new for this summer, Norway.

It's the same price booking with me, so if you fancy an active, outdoorsy holiday with exercise and fresh air and some great local food at the end of your day, do get in touch 🥾🥾

How is it already a week since I was with these gorgeous huskies?

I am so smitten with everything that North Iceland can offer that I am already planning a return trip in March 2026, but this time with a small group of clients.

I hope to finalise the itinerary, dates and pricing in the coming week.

Keep checking on my page and let me know if you'd like to join me.

It was a beautiful day for our 10 mile cross border walk, passing the Border Stane, with Auld Lang Syne inscribed on the Scottish side, and Jerusalem on the English side.

If you had the choice and money was no issue where in the world would you want to spend time under incredible blue skies.?

Put your answers in the comments.

From Iceland to Northumberland!

I never work on my birthday or my husband's birthday. Yesterday it was my turn to switch over to a year older and we spent the day in Northumberland.

First a visit to National Trust property Seaton Delaval, which we really enjoyed. It's very quirky, a reflection of the family who once owned this impressive building. I particularly liked the upside down bedroom, and the mirrored gardens.

If you go before 6 April, you'll also see Helios, a sculpture of the Sun created by international artist Luke Jerram.

Although we've walked quite a bit on the Northumberland coast, we had never been to Whitley Bay or Tynemouth before. It was good to see the sustainable and accessible footpath along the promenade overlooking the sea.

Don't forget, clocks go forward tonight, an hour less in bed, but longer daylight hours to look forward to!

If you haven't yet booked your holiday for this year, or you want to book ahead for next year, I'll be back at my desk on Monday ready to work on your enquiries and double checking everything is on order for my clients travelling in April.

Clients are currently living the dream in Australia!

They set off 11 days ago, had a stopover in Singapore for 3 nights, flew to Sydney for 5 nights and now they are at Uluru. Singapore Slings at Raffles, Marina Bay hotel, Sydney Harbour bridge climb, and a fantastic view of Uluru.

They've still got Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef, Melbourne, drive along the Great Ocean Road and Adelaide to come!

Thanks to Elaine and Elaine for letting me share photos.

I seem to be sending a lot of clients to Australia and New Zealand at the moment.

Are they on your book it list?

I'm back! Wow, what a trip, what a blast. I'm absolutely buzzing after an activity filled short break in North Iceland.

In fact, I'm so buzzing that in addition to my hosted trip to Sri Lanka in November, I'm considering taking a small group to North Iceland in March 2026. We'll be looked after on the ground by the fabulous Rannveig, Stefan and all at Obeo Travel.

North Iceland is such a unique destination offering activities such as whale watching, dogsledding, snowmobiling, bathing in thermal pools, looking for the Northern Lights all amidst the most incredible landscapes and scenery you can imagine.

If you'd like to join me for a 4 night break to North Iceland, please send me a DM or email and I'll let you know as soon as I've put together pricing and a full itinerary.

If you'd rather go for more than 3 or 4 nights, I can highly recommend a summer trip covering North and South Iceland as a self drive holiday and would suggest 7-10 nights to get the most out of your time there.

If Sri Lanka sounds more like you, I've still got a couple of places left to fill on that trip.

Another fabulous day in North Iceland filled with adventure and activities.

A walk to Godafoss waterfall, dogsledding across a frozen lake with , marveling at the volcanic rock features at Dimmuborgir, lunch at Vogafjós Farm Resort, snowmobiling with Iceland before our 3rd and final overnight at the Sel-Hótel Mývatn , complete with its own micro brewery and food tasting of Icelandic delicacies. I've liked all the food on this short trip, but really, the Islanders can keep their fermented shark!

I was last in Iceland 16 years ago. I am so happy to be back.

The flight into Akureyri was 2.5 hours from Manchester with a dramatic approach through the snow clad mountains on a strip of runway that jutted out into the fjord.

This afternoon we've found out what life was like during the Herring era in the 1900s in this northernmost fishing town in Iceland, Siglufjordur. The herring museum is well laid out, giving great insight into the industry that turned this tiny village into a busy fishing port, especially the herring women who engaged in back breaking work to do their bit for the local and national economy.

We're staying at the beautiful Siglo Hotel the views are stunning. More on this local area tomorrow, but the evening was rounded off with a light display of the Aurora Borealis.

Not a good day for travel today if you were planning to travel to, from or via Heathrow. Fortunately I don't have any clients travelling today so personally I'm not affected by the closure of Heathrow airport due to the nearby fire.

However, plenty of my TC colleagues do have clients travelling and all clients have been contacted early this morning, flights rebooked, hotels and transfers amended without the client having to do anything apart from be at the end of a phone or a whatsapp.

Do you know what, this is why clients book with us time and time again, because when things get tough and travel plans don't go to plan, we're here to make sure we get those plans back on track as quickly as possible for you. Not only are we contactable 24/7 when things go wrong, but we're backed by our 24/7 duty office, so it's a win win.

If you're looking to have this level of support and reassurance next time you travel, I'm here to help for any leisure or business travel.

I've spent some time this afternoon preparing final travel documents for clients departing on their travels early April.

This is where I've currently got clients - 2 ladies heading on a month long trip of Singapore & Australia. They are currently flying between Singapore and Sydney.
I have a business traveller in Ottawa, and a single gent in Tenerife on flights only staying at his timeshare.

In April the travel season really gets underway again. I've got a couple heading to New Zealand to visit a family member, a mother and daughter heading to Australia for a wedding and then stopping in Dubai for a couple of days, Mother and son heading to Dubai for Easter, and I've got three lots of clients all heading to Western Canada.

One family is heading to Vancouver & Whistler (hopefully to catch some late season skiing) but mostly to visit a family member who has been based there all winter.

Another family is heading to Vancouver, and Vancouver Island where their son has been staying on a tiny island doing bible study for about 6 months.

My final couple is heading to Western Canada for their honeymoon. They'll be having a more active trip with some Kayaking, bear and whale watching, snowshoeing, horseriding, but also taking in city trips around Vancouver, over to Vancouver Island for a stop in Victoria, Tofino, then back for the iconic Rocky Mountaineer ride from Vancouver to Banff in Gold leaf before a couple of nights in Banff and return from Calgary.

I've also got clients heading off on a river cruise to France, sailing along the Rhone.

I really do offer a huge range of travel types, destinations to cater to different levels of budget.

If you'd like to experience any of these destinations (or others) for yourself, let's chat.
