Planning your visit to Ross? Why not follow the Ross-on-Wye Heritage Trail?

The trail is a route of two miles, starting from the Market House and passes sites of historical and architectural interest which were identified and marked with blue plaques erected by the 1985-6 Mayor’s Project.

The Heritage Trail leaflet was researched and written by local historian Heather Hurley for the Ross-on-Wye & District Civic Society.

This morning Acer Trees came to give Percy our Ancient Native Black Poplar a trim. This is to save it and hopefully keep it going a few more years. It will have another trim in about 5 years .
They are a fantastic team working together. Jerry was shining a green torch light on it from the ground to say where to make the cuts . I am going to gather some bits up and try and get them rooted.
There are two types of gall on the tree. One is a twisted gall.
It’s over 6 metres round the trunk .

One of the guests leaving today gave me a bag she had made while staying in Tre-Vern. Isn’t it lovely ? I think it’s perfect.
They were having a break away from their full time jobs which is designing and making bags , also teaching bag making.

I was on gate duty this morning while Vernon took a bale of next winter’s hay out to the cattle. I managed to zoom in and get a photo of him with the combine going past in our field next door. Then I went round and took a video of the combine .

Our walk today from Tintern Abbey. A very pretty walk with lots of interesting things to see and lots of steep bits to traverse. Plus one very wet bit which I had to straddle and walk uphill doing it. 🤣

Happy weekend everyone.
We had a fantastic group of 20 golfers in mid week. Just a few of them on their last day .
Our very own Berni the school bus driver transported them to the golf course each day .

First Wednesday of the month .
You know what that means to us -
Book Club at the local pub - yeahh 👌😁 The Royal Arms.
We walked back and got home at 10 past 10 .
I have 2 to read as I didn’t read last months. They all raved about it , so I have to catch up.
We had a new chappie join the group called Andy. He fitted in a treat with all the ladies . He had researched Lisa Jewell and told us all about her . It added another dimension to the evening .
I went straight round to shut the chooks in and called at Tre-Vern to check on the golfers and they offered me curry and rice . I turned the offer down but I have to say - it smelled delicious 😏👌
I am regretting it now. 😏
