Cliff Lift Update:

In previous rounds of IW Council capital allocation, there has been funds reserved for works to be completed on the roof canopy and the re-painting of Shanklin lift.

The plan is to scaffold the current structure to then allow the contractor to strip off the old roof and instal a new one, the scaffolding to do this will be installed on Wednesday 23rd to Friday 25th of April, this will mean that the lift will be closed throughout the duration of the scaffold work and should reopen on Saturday 26th of April.

Work to start the repairs on the lower canopy of the lift will begin in early May. It is envisaged that the canopy work will take around six weeks to complete, during which the lift will remain open during the works.

The re-painting of the outer surface of the lift will be carried out during 2026.
