Many of our guests at Three Hares Carriage take advantage of their National Trust memberships and visit the plethora of National Trust properties that are just a short drive away. Killerton House is a particular favourite and their continued efforts to accelerate nature’s recovery in the wider estate are really inspiring. They’ve also got an amazing exhibition on at the moment that showcases 1920s fashion, with top hats and exquisitely beaded dresses… it’s remarkable that these fashions came after 1912 when Three Hares Carriage was taken out of service and repurposed as a house… how times have changed!

Wonderful to welcome back the incredibly talented Lois Raine to the carriage for a freshen up of the paintwork. Lois has worked on so many heritage painting projects and her expertise on the carriage was instrumental in making the restoration such a success. This week she’s been carefully repainting the panels that were beautifully sign written by Mark Hill Signs which still look immaculate- the gold leaf and lining are still looking like new 6 years later.

Words cannot describe how amazing the Three Hares Carriage is and how wonderful our time away was! The welcome gifts are extremely generous and kind, the grounds are stunning, and the carriage is perfect! The addition of the cat who visited daily was the cherry on an already fantastic cake! The carriage is much larger than photos imply - cannot thank the owners enough for such a wonderful break! Will definitely be back!”

Wonderful news here on the doorstep of Three Hares Carriage- the pine marten returns to Dartmoor! If you want to come and spend some time in the beautiful woodlands of Dartmoor remember Three Hares Carriage is only 4 miles away… huge congratulations to the team working on the Two Moors Pine Marten project to return these animals to our landscape. The Autumn vibes are really kicking in here at Three Hares Carriage. After our busiest year there are only a couple of slots left for late autumn and next years bookings are already filling up. Here’s a reminder that when you stay with us you directly support nature recovery.

People often think that making more space for nature is all about ecology, land management and wildlife monitoring but in our case whilst this certainly gets us excited it’s the loo cleaning and maintenance of the carriage that allow us to continue with our Rewilding endeavours…

So here’s a shout out to all those people who are busy today supporting efforts for natures recovery in unconventional ways…

The last two couples who have stayed with us have recently stayed at Knepp and we’ve had some great discussions about the growing movement of Rewilding and how by staying with us our guests contribute to our work here, to make more space for nature. The land is bursting with life at the moment and the glow worms are getting ready to get their shine on.
