🤫 5 Secret Stops on Canada’s ‘Corridor Route’

VIA Rail’s ‘Corridor Route’ runs from Windsor to Quebec City, connecting the major cities of Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, with stunning views of Lake Ontario and the Saint Lawrence River along the way.

But hop off between these more well-known stops, and you’ll find some hidden gems, just minutes from the train station - perfect for a quick adventure! Here are five of our favourites…

🏰 Windsor – Willistead Manor
An easy walk from Windsor Station, Willistead Manor offers a glimpse into the city’s elegant past. Tours of the 36-room mansion are typically available in July and December, but at other times you can relax in the surrounding manicured gardens

🌳 Burlington – Hendrie Park
A short bus ride from Burlington Station, Hendrie Park is a hidden oasis accessible through a tunnel from the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens Canada. Its forest trails and boardwalks offer a perfect, peaceful retreat

🌊 Oakville – Bronte Harbour
With the lake shimmering outside your train window, it’s time to stop and enjoy it! At Bronte Harbour, just minutes from Oakville Station, you can stroll past sailboats, peruse boutique shops or enjoy a beer in the Boathouse

🏖️ Cobourg – The Boardwalk & Beach
Many trains rush past Cobourg, but this lakeside town is a hidden treasure. The station is just minutes from a beautiful sandy beach, a scenic boardwalk, and a charming downtown with independent cafés and weekly farmers’ market

✨ Kingston – Lemoine Point Conservation Area
A short taxi-ride from the station, this picturesque lakeside park offers winding woodland trails with views over Collins Bay and Lake Ontario. Visit in Spring to see the wildflowers

📍Death Valley National Park, California

Welcome to the hottest, driest, and lowest national park in the US! Spanning over 3.4 million acres, Death Valley is a land of extremes, with vast sand dunes and salt flats existing next to rugged mountains and colourful canyons.

Despite its harsh conditions, Death Valley teems with life, from spring wildflowers to howling coyotes and desert-adapted bighorn sheep. It is also one of the best places in the country to go stargazing due to its dark night skies.

Is Death Valley on your bucket list?! If you've been, share your pics! 📷
