As the town comes alive with dark glamour, dramatic outfits, and haunting vibes, there’s another kind of thrill waiting just outside the cobbled streets. The UK’s biggest bridge bungee is coming to town.

This coming weekend, on 2nd and 3rd May 2026, the iconic Larpool Viaduct will become England’s only bridge bungee jump. Brave visitors can leap 42 metres over the River Esk and take in views of the legendary Whitby Abbey before the jump. With gothic scenery and thrilling heights, this is Whitby at its best.

What you can look forward to:
• Jump 150 feet (42 meters) over water
• Choose a solo jump or try forward and backward (FAB) options
• Take in stunning coastal views
• Enjoy a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else in the UK

Key details:
• Dates: 2nd and 3rd May 2026
• Time: Starting at 10am each day
• Registration: Marina Back Car Park on Langbourne Road. Please note, registration is not at the bridge.
• Walk-ins are welcome if space is available, but we recommend booking ahead.

The Legend of the Submerged Bells of Whitby Abbey 🔔

According to legend, when the Dissolution of the Monasteries swept across England, Whitby Abbey’s sacred bells met their fate. They were ordered to be taken away, dragged down Donkey Path, past the 199 Steps, and hauled to Tate Hill Pier, headed for London.

The locals watched in horror. Cries and curses filled the air; to them, this was sacrilege. People whispered desperate prayers into the wind, hoping the bells would never leave Whitby.

One warm summer evening, with calm seas and a clear sky, the ship set sail. But as it passed Black Nab, disaster struck. Without warning, the vessel sank to the bottom of the sea.

Some say the bells were too holy, too heavy with prayer, to ever be taken away.

Even now, fishermen say that on a quiet, moonlit night near Black Nab, you can hear the sea ringing with the lost bells of Whitby Abbey, calling from the depths.

IT’S BACK for another year! It’s nearly time for our festive farmers take to the roads to spread festive cheers and raise plenty of money for two fantastic charities!

Saturday 20th December is the date for your diary but follow the dedicated event page for more information and love updates on the night.

The route will be similar to last year but route details, fundraising links etc will be posted nearer the time 😊🚜
