I started my journey in travel in 1990, when, in my 5th year at secondary, I spent a week doing work experience in Lunn Poly, Ascot. I just loved it, and had now chosen my career. I already loved travelling, so booking travel for othe
rs to share in my passion was something I wanted to do. In 1991, I enrolled in a one year Travel & Tourism course at Brooklands College in Weybridge, Surrey. Being its first running year, it was not a great course. But, following 4 weeks work experience in Alec Bristol Travel, Chertsey, I was offered a job. So, onto my new life as a travel agent on the YTS (remember that?) After 5 years, I moved onto chain agencies; Thomas Cook, Lunn Poly, Going Places, and the Teletext Agency; Holiday Now (sadly all of which are now no more). In 2007, my family and I moved to Nova Scotia, Canada for a new life. The following spring I started working at Cruise Holidays as a cruise specialist. I hadn’t even been on a cruise at this point, but that wasn’t going to stop me. I always knew I wanted to both go on cruises, and sell them to others. It was a dream job come true. In 2013 we returned home, and I continue working for Cruise Holidays here in the UK (now rebranded to Cruise & Travel Holidays). I now get to work from home, doing the job I love and also spending time with my family, including my gorgeous granddaughter. I still get as excited about booking cruises & holidays today as I did 32 years ago. Cruise is not just my job, it’s my passion.
