🛂 Passport issue date, expiry date and destination requirements
✈️ Booking names, flight times, airports and luggage
🏨 Hotel and transfer vouchers
📋 Visas, travel authorisations and arrival forms
🛡️ Insurance cover and emergency contact details
🚢 Cruise or tour check-in instructions

📱 Save copies offline and print anything required.
⏰ Make a note of when airline check-in opens.

This is your final double-check — passports and visas should be checked much earlier, and insurance arranged when you book. 🤎

✨ Travelling to Kenya? There’s an additional insurance requirement to check before you go. 🇰🇪

The FCDO updated its guidance on 13 October 2026, confirming that from 5 October, most visitors staying for less than 12 months must have Kenyan Government-provided travel health insurance—even if they already hold a UK travel-insurance policy.

Here’s how to arrange it:

📋 Applying for an eTA? Purchase the compulsory insurance during the application.
✅ Already have a valid eTA? Buy it through the official portal: https://insurance.ecitizen.go.ke/

The cover is valid for 90 days and allows multiple entries during that period. Exemptions include Kenyan citizens and residents, East African Community citizens and passengers remaining airside in transit.

You should still have your own travel insurance covering your individual needs, including your planned activities.

This is also in addition to other entry requirements. British holidaymakers should check their eTA, ensure their passport has at least six months’ validity from arrival and two blank pages, and check whether their route requires a yellow-fever vaccination certificate.

If you’ve got your heart set on a particular ship, itinerary or cabin, it pays to start planning early.

As a planning guide, I’d suggest looking around 12–18 months ahead — or when itineraries first go on sale if you’re considering a special sailing, suite or celebration cruise.

Booking early gives you more choice, especially if you’d love:
🌊 A balcony in your preferred location
🥂 A suite for an extra-special escape
🗓️ Specific dates for an anniversary or birthday
🧭 An itinerary you’ve always wanted to experience

It doesn’t guarantee the lowest price, but it can give you a better chance of securing the cruise you actually want.
