I first visited Jersey when I was only 6 years old and my love for it blossomed from then.

My imagination was captured by Gorey Castle on the east coast of Jersey overlooking the picturesque harbour, Gorey Castle — officially known as Mont Orgueil Castle — is one of the island’s most iconic landmarks. Dating back over 800 years, this magnificent medieval fortress was built to protect Jersey from French invasion and offers breathtaking views across the coastline towards France. With its winding staircases, hidden rooms, towers, and historic battlements, visiting Gorey Castle feels like stepping back in time.

The charming village of Gorey below adds to the magic, with colourful harbour-front cafés, seafood restaurants, and stunning coastal scenery making it the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon exploring Jersey’s rich history and beautiful landscapes.

The beaches and clifftop walks are rugged and beautiful, a place to relax and get back to nature. I have walked to some of the small coves and been the only person for miles around.

If you are interested in WWII Jersey was invaded by Germany. Jersey became the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by N**i Germany, and traces of that history can still be explored across the island today. One of the most remarkable sites is the Jersey War Tunnels — an underground hospital and tunnel complex built deep into the hillside by forced labour during the occupation. Walking through the tunnels offers a powerful insight into what life was like for islanders during this difficult period.

Finally Jersey Zoo is a must visit, this was ground breaking when first built for it's care of endangered species. Expect to spend a day here and not feel it is enough. The sense of what Gerald Durrell wanted to achieve is not lost and his legacy is seen all around the park.

Jersey is a special place and is well worth making the effort to visit.

Although the book and subsequent TV series is based on the beautiful island of Corfu the author Gerald Durrell lived his later life on Jersey

Jersey is the perfect blend of British charm and continental flair, offering stunning coastlines, golden beaches, crystal-clear waters, and picturesque harbour towns.

Whether you’re looking for relaxing seaside escapes, scenic coastal walks, fascinating history, or incredible food, this beautiful Channel Island has something for everyone.

From exploring the dramatic cliffs and hidden coves to wandering through the charming streets of St Helier, Jersey is a destination that feels both luxurious and laid-back. 🇯🇪✨

Food lovers will be in heaven with Jersey’s famous seafood, cosy cafés, and local delicacies, while history enthusiasts can discover castles, wartime tunnels, and centuries of fascinating heritage.

Animal lovers will not only be enthralled by the nature all around them, you can also visit the Durrell Institute named after the author himself otherwise known as Jersey Zoo.

Perfect for couples, families, solo travellers, or anyone wanting a UK break with a touch of European atmosphere.

I thought I would tell you a bit more about myself and why I love to book holidays for people.

It's more than a job for me. It's a vocation.

I've loved to travel for many years but unfortunately in 2023 my life changed drastically when I was in a major car accident this has left me with a slipped disc, nerve damage and a lot of pain regularly which means that I can't do the things I used to do when I travelled.

So now part of my travel love is booking trips for people.

It doesn’t feel like a job, but also means I can work around my numerous health issues.

So whatever you fancy doing on holiday let me know and I will help you find your perfect escape/adventure

I thought it was time I reintroduce myself to all of my followers.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to everyone who likes, shares and follows me. Of course, not to forget all those of you have booked with me most of who are repeat customers.

So I am Kirsty, and I have been travelling all over the world and the UK since my early 20s. A few years ago when my life changed drastically I decided to use this passion for travel and set up Amazing Adventures Travel and I can say I have not looked back.

I have loved every minute of my travel experiences, booking peoples dream holidays, weddings and honeymoons, giving travel advice and tips, and also documenting my own travel via my travel blog.

I live and breathe travel, I travel with my too gorgeous teenagers, who are on lots of my trip photos with me, I also love to travel and walk the UK with my 2 dogs (Nellie who is happy to be photographed) Bean not so much.

I specialise in turning peoples ideas into their dream holiday, I will do anything to ensure the trip is their own Amazing Adventure.

So why book with me, I do all the intensive research, I book everything for you, I am here if you need anything whether at home for advice on your trip, or if you have any queries or problems whilst away.

All the trips I book are fully ATOL and ABTA protected.

I am always happy to help and ready to book your next Amazing Adventures whether home or abroad.

Gondolas - the Iconic Transport in Venice

If you think of Venice you think of Gondola's and these are an amazing way to travel.

The current cost is approximately £85-105 for 30 minutes guided tour.

If you want to go on a Gondola but do not want to pay this price or have not got the time as you are on a day trip from your cruise then I recommend finding the Gondola Ferry Service at Gondola Traghetto di Santa Sofia - for 2 euros each you can cross the Grand Canal on a Gondola, you will not get a commentary or be on your own but you will experience a Gondola ride, we chose this way and it was a brilliant experience.

If you love content like this and travel tips, offers and once in a lifetime trips like this page.

The last stop on our Italian Adventure was Venice

This is definitely a must see for anyone visiting Italy.

The place is just beyond imagination and the photos and videos you see do not do it justice.

We had no plans for Venice other than to explore and we did this all on foot.

For those wanting to Gondola rides are 90-110 euros for around 30 minutes, we decided to get the Gondola ride across the Grand Canal instead, just to experience it and was 2 euros each.

There are lots of amazing guided tours too, which I am happy to book for you. As it was our final couple of days we decided to just meander through the streets.

We tried Cicchetti (the local tapas) which was delicious, we also couldn't resist the sandwiches and gelato 🍧.

I tried a Ventian Spritz right next to the Grand Canal not my favourite spritz and also quite pricey but the view was worth it.

Top Tips
Do not take big suitcases, preferably travel light. Venice is made up if lots of Islands connected by bridges, all with steps, an absolute nightmare if you have heavy luggage.
Do leave your luggage in a safe place, we booked left luggage near the bus station. We then just carried our rucksacks which was so much easier.
Book airport transfers in advance, do it the quick and easy way like the locals and book the bus only 10 euros each and they leave every 30 minutes from the main bus station
Immerse yourself in the wonder of it all and don't book too much so you can just be in awe of the place and drink in all the sites
Tourist tax in Venice is done differently there are days where you have to pay tourist tax and checks are done by the police. If you are staying there you need to produce an exemption document, if you are on a day trip you will need to pay the day tax. This is not every day and I can help you with this, all part of the service when booking with me

(next post will be the Gondola trip so you can see where to get it)

I hope you have enjoyed our recent adventure, if you fancy doing the same send me a WhatsApp and I can book you the holiday of your dreams.

Always happy to answer questions on any destinations we visit.
