Please note the updated guidelines for travel to our beautiful island.

Grenada to implement a seventy-two-hour testing mandate for all travellers to the country.

St. George’s: November 21, 2020: Beginning Saturday, November 28th, 2020, all travellers to Grenada will be required to obtain a PCR test from a certified laboratory within 72 hours of travel, and receive negative results in order to enter the country.

The 72-hour testing mandate will replace the current stipulation of securing the PCR test within 7 days of travel.

The change in testing period follows a collective decision taken at a recent OECS meeting.

Health experts believe that people getting tested within 72 hours of travel will help to lessen potentially positive diagnoses after travellers enter the island.

The closer the period is between testing and flight, the less time individuals will have to contract the virus in their communities of origin before boarding the flight.

This measure is one more step in Grenada's thrust to maintain a low case count, given the rising numbers of positive COVID-19 cases around the world.

Grenada's recently announced entry requirement, the Pure Safe Travel Authorization Certificate, helps to provide an added layer of health screening of potential travellers to the country.

Individuals are now able to complete and submit an online application for entry into the country, as well as upload their negative PCR test results onto the application.

Once the application is approved, they will receive a Pure Safe Travel Authorization Certificate.

Travellers are also required to present an electronic or printed copy of the certificate during check-in at their airports of origin.

All travellers are required to quarantine for up to 7 days.

You are not permitted to leave or receive any visitors at the location where you are quarantined until after your day 4 test results are received by Health Officials, and you have been issued an email notification that medically clears you from quarantine. This process can take as long as 7 days.

If at any time you test positive, you may be transferred to an isolation or treatment facility as determined by the Grenada Health Officials

Clearance Process for Quarantine

While in quarantine on day 4 you will be swabbed for a PCR test. The results take approximately one to two days.

If the test result is negative, then and only then, will you receive official notification of clearance from Quarantine.

You are not permitted to leave the Quarantine facility, or interact with any unauthorized person until this official clearance is received from the Quarantine Authority. After receiving medical clearance you must continue to self-monitor for the remaining 14 days using the self-monitoring App.

If your day 4 test is positive you will be required to remain in quarantine at a designated facility (this may be your existing quarantine facility or another based on an assessment of risk)

Travellers to Grenada are required to have a Travel Authorization Certificate

Beginning on December 1, 2020, all travellers to Grenada will be required to complete an online application in order to receive a Pure Safe Travel Authorization Certificate to enter Grenada.

Travellers can access the portal at covid19.gov.gd

Quarantine is used to keep a person who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others. This helps prevent the spread of disease which can occur before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without showing symptoms.

Grenada Welcomes CDC’s “Very Low-Risk COVID-19 Ranking.”

St. George's, Grenada, August 30th, 2020 - GIS:

The United States-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), has removed all travel notices and warnings for Grenada, as the “Spice Isle” continues to efficiently prevent, manage, and control the outbreak and spread of the Coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the island.

In its latest COVID-19 international update, the US-based public health entity placed Grenada in the category: “No travel health notice: COVID-19 risk is very low.” Acting Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Shawn Charles, reacting to the update said, "I am pleased to see that the U.S (CDC) has removed the travel advisory for Grenada.

We are now listed under “no travel health notice: COVID-19 risk is very low”, he told the GIS on Sunday morning.

The (CMO) said this can be attributed to the continued hard work of the team, the government, and citizens who have demonstrated excellent leadership in handling the outbreak.

Health Minister the Hon. Nickolas Steele, who has been leading the national response since Grenada began planning its response strategy immediately after learning of the outbreak in China, says every frontline worker from the different agencies and organizations should feel proud and must be commended.

However, Minister Steele, who monitors the global unfolding situation on a daily basis, cautioned that while our risk is low, we need to remain vigilant and focused.

The Minister urged all healthcare providers, frontline workers, and the public to continue following all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure Grenada remains COVID-19 free.
