The territory contains 3044,5 square km, what is 4,4, % of the territory of Georgia. Population-13158;
Population density – 4,6 man/km2. From the South-East Mestia municipality is bordered by the main ringe of Caucasus, from the West by the Svanetia-Apkhazeti ringe, from the South by the top of Svaneti ridge. According to the vertical zonality Mestia Municipality applies both to the cold mountain-
meadows soil, mounain-forest and mountain-valley climatic zone. Mestia municipality has rich reserves of water, the river Enguri is taking the first place in the country for the abounding of the water. There is abundance of mineral waters here, its quantity exceeds 200. Mesia is famous for its gold, silver, molybdenum, barytes, arsenic, wolfram and marble fields.
