I missed this when it came out. The crew certainly went to the right place - Retro is the best place for Ajaruli khachapuri. But I do wish people would stop calling it "Georgian Pizza." Does anyone call quesadillas Mexican pizza?

So much beautiful energy at the Garikula Wine Festival, the first ever event of its kind in our heavenly village. knows how to throw a party, baby! Spectacular wine from Kakheti, Imereti and our own Shida Kartli. Rain and sun teased us, a friendly reminder of the land of extremes we live in. Hey , your mtsvane-rkatsiteli is implanted in my brain. And , your shindi araki is killer diller.

Tbilisi's New Wine Festival is a dangerous place. A man grabs me buy the arm and pulls me into a nearby pavilion. "Paul!" an old friend beckons while a stranger destined to be a new friend instantly fills my glass with an exquisite rkatsiteli. "Okro's!" someone says. Another man, Zaza, I learn, insists I sit. I resist. I know where this will lead and getting slaughtered is not on my agenda this day, but Zaza's smile has disappeared. He just might murder me if I refuse and then someone slips a clean plate in front of me. I oblige and the truth is, I am hungry and mtsvadi is exactly what the organism needs with so much wine flowing. And then John Okro walks up, pops a box of wine and pulls out a special edition rkatsiteli dedicated to Malkhaz Kharbedia, the founder of this event and man most responsible for promoting Georgian wine locally and internationally who passed away last year. Tasting time is over.

Two days of Zero Compromise was tough in a good way but then on Sunday I had to work with my band at yet another wine festival - the incomparable Sherekilebi fest at . I still managed to dip into some bottles between sets but the only proof I have that I was there is this shot of one of Iago’s qvevri that was standing back in the corner where I was hanging out with the dzveli bichebi. It was a great gig at a spectacular event. Can’t wait for next year.
