📍Ada,Ghana🇬🇭

Ada Foah is a town in Ghana where the Volta River meets the Atlantic Ocean. It’s known for palm-lined beaches and estuary islands. Marine turtles breed in the area. On the seafront are traces of Fort Kongenstein, built by 18th-century Danish traders. Next to the old Presbyterian Church is a 19th-century missionary cemetery. Songor Lagoon is a wetland area with numerous bird species.

Did You Know Ghana’s First First Lady Was Egyptian?

Helena Ritz Fathia Nkrumah — the name many don’t know, but a woman whose story shaped Ghana’s history.

She was the wife of Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, making her Ghana’s very first First Lady.

Before her life in the spotlight, Fathia worked as a teacher and a bank teller in Egypt.
In 1957, just after Ghana’s independence, she married Nkrumah in a ceremony at the Christianborg Castle in Accra.

Together, they had 3 children.
But everything changed in 1966 when Nkrumah was overthrown.
Fathia had to flee with her children back to Egypt.

She passed away in 2007. Her final wish?
To be buried beside her husband in Ghana.

Today, you can visit her final resting place at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, one of Ghana’s most powerful historic sites.
