SPARK Project Begins

On Saturday, 6th June 2026, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, supported by the Wa Metropolitan Chief Executive and the Wa Naa in Council, officially cut the sod for Phase 1 of the Wa Naa Palace Redevelopment Project.

This first phase will deliver a modern Conference Hall and Museum, laying the foundation for the SPARK Project, a flagship of the SheaPark Resource Hub Initiative.

The SPARK Project is more than construction; it is a symbol of heritage, innovation, and industrialisation. It represents the Upper West Region rising with pride, creating jobs, and driving Ghana’s transformation agenda. 🌍💼🌿

On Saturday, 23rd May 2026, the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, together with the Steering Committee of the SheaPark Resource Hub, hosted government appointees and distinguished statesmen from the Upper West Region at his official residence in Accra.

The dialogue and sensitisation forum inspired all present, as speakers expressed their readiness to support and actively participate in this historic initiative. The SheaPark Resource Hub stands as a beacon of hope; driving industrialisation, job creation, and regional transformation for the Upper West and Ghana at large.

President Mahama Launches SheaPark Resource Hub in Wa!

On 31st January 2026, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, together with Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, unveiled the SheaPark Resource Hub at the Wa Naa Palace in the Upper West Region.

The SheaPark Resource Hub is a flagship initiative designed to transform the shea industry through industrialisation, value addition, and export-driven growth. By positioning the Upper West Region as a hub for agro-industrial innovation, it aims to revive local economies, empower communities, and contribute to Ghana’s broader transformation agenda.

Rt. Hon. Bagbin described the launch as a “royal honour and blessing,” highlighting its potential to drive inclusive, sustainable development for both the region and the nation.

This milestone aligns with Ghana’s vision of building a self-reliant, globally competitive economy, and marks a new chapter of opportunity for the people of Wa, the Upper West, and beyond.
