After Georgetown, Janjanbureh, with Fati, we went straight to Juffureh and Kunta Kinteh Island.

We started at the museum, where we learned about the slave trade. From there, we took a boat to James Island, Kunta Kinteh Island. Visiting the island was a lot experience, learning about how the transatlantic slave trade operated there was deeply moving.

Afterward, we boated to Juffureh and then headed back home.

A tour to Georgetown with an amazing Lady, Fati. We visited the historic stone circles and Museum at Wassu, where we learned about their history.

We also took a boat trip on the River Gambia and saw hippos, baboons, chimpanzees, monkeys, birds, and a crocodile. Experiencing the wildlife on the river was incredible.

From there, we headed to Janjanbureh, Georgetown, and spent the night at a lovely guesthouse near the river, with dinner and breakfast included.

In the morning, we boated to visit the slave house, but unfortunately the caretaker wasn’t available. We then boated back, drove to Kunta Kinteh Island.

Banjul City Tour
We took a trip to Banjul, the capital city of The Gambia. We started at Arch 22, where we learned about its history and took in the surrounding views of Banjul as an island while climbing to the top. The view was lovely, with a fresh, pleasant breeze. From there, we visited the museum to learn about Gambian culture and history. We then went to Royal Albert Market to experience the bustling local market, with its vibrant buying and selling. Finally, we took a walk along the beachside all the way to the ferry terminal.

I embarked on a South Gambia Safari with a lovely couple, Rob and Caroline. Our adventure began at Serrekunda market, where we visited the Batik factory and learned the art of batik making and tie & dye techniques. We then explored the vibrant local market on foot. From there, we drove to Lamin Lodge, where we gained insight into oyster harvesting and the local production of traditional pants. We also enjoyed a scenic boat trip on the river, observing oysters clinging to mangroves and learning about the local harvesting process. After Lamin Lodge, we headed to Brikama craft market to discover unique artisanal crafts. A delicious lunch and relaxing break followed at Sanyang beach. Post lunch, we visited Tanji fishing harbor and market, where we witnessed local fishermen selling their catch. A lively market stroll concluded our day, and we returned to the hotel, reflecting on a wonderful experience.

I embarked on a tour to Senegal, Fathala Wildlife Park with the fantastic couple, Ashleigh and Jason. Our adventure began at the African Princess Hotel, where we departed for the Banjul Ferry terminal, a quick 20mins drive. We boarded the ferry, Barra, which transported us across the Gambia River to the other side in just 20 minutes. Upon arrival in Barra town, we transferred to a jeep that took us to the Gambia-Senegal border, a 30mins journey, with a brief stop for passport checks and stamps. From the border, we headed straight to Fathala Park, just 15mins away. Both the Lion Walk and Safari was enjoyable, with the Lion Walk being a highlight, and our Safari experience was incredible, spotting all the park's animals. What a fantastic and fortunate day.
