September in Kefalonia feels like a secret extra month of summer.

The days are usually still beautifully warm, the sea has had all summer to heat up, and the beaches and villages feel much calmer once the busiest crowds have gone. Restaurants, boat trips and beach bars are generally still running, although some places may begin reducing their hours later in the month.

You might get the occasional shower or breezier day, but when the sun comes back out, it’s magical.

Warm sea, quieter roads, relaxed evenings and a slightly slower pace, September might just be one of the loveliest times to experience Kefalonia.

Assos β€” a fairy-tale village you can’t help but fall in love with. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·πŸ’™

Tucked along the stunning coastline of Kefalonia, Assos feels like something straight out of a storybook. Colourful Venetian-style houses, turquoise Ionian Sea, lush green hills and a peaceful little harbour make this one of the most magical places to visit in Kefalonia.

Whether you’re exploring Kefalonia for the first time, looking for beautiful Greek villages, or simply searching for that picture-perfect island escape, Assos deserves a place on your list.

This is the kind of place you arrive at… and instantly fall in love with. 🩡

The natural beauty of Kefalonia Island.

While summer is slowly coming to an end there is till plenty of time to visit Kefalonia in September and even October!

We have witnessed both September and October on the Greek island of Cefalonia and there is still so much on offer. Yes the island is slowly winding down and yes the temps are not as intense as August but the quieter and cooler sides are definitely there to be enjoyed!

It’s September 1st and apparently everyone’s emotionally moved into autumn. πŸŽƒπŸ‚

Meanwhile I’m still mentally on a Greek beach, ordering another iced coffee and refusing to acknowledge the existence of knitwear.

So respectfully… sit your pumpkin spice ass down. IT’S STILL SUMMER. β˜€οΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡·πŸ˜‚

I’m not done yet. Ok πŸ‘

There’s something about catching that first glimpse of a Kefalonia beach through the trees… and knowing exactly where you’re spending the rest of the day.

Crystal-clear water, sunshine and that feeling that makes you wonder why you’d ever want to leave.

Kefalonia, you get us every single time 🀍

They call Myrtos Beach one of the most dangerous beaches in Europe… and once you stand in front of it, you understand why!

The colour of the water doesn’t even look real. Electric blue, huge white cliffs and waves that can turn rough very quickly.

It’s breathtaking, powerful and absolutely unforgettable β€” but it’s also a beach you have to respect. Some days it can be calm, other days the currents are incredibly strong.

That’s the thing about Kefalonia… it’s beautiful in the wildest way possible πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·πŸ’™

πŸ‘‰If you’re planning to visit Myrtos, our Kefalonia beach guide includes parking tips, safety advice, facilities, Google Map pins and honest info on which beaches are best for families, swimming and relaxing.
