You book a resort. You see a website, some photos, a price.

Here's what you don't see:

→ Hours spent cross-checking room categories against three other properties in the same price range, because "ocean view" means something different at every hotel.

→ Email chains confirming your room is actually being guaranteed, not just requested.

→ Transfer times organized so you're not stuck in a van for two hours after a red-eye (or re-organizing them after a flight delay!)

→ Hurricane season flagged before you fall in love with a property that's a risk in October.

→ Small requests submitted ahead of time, the anniversary, the honeymoon, the milestone birthday, so you walk into a room that already knows why you're there.
None of that shows up on the invoice. It's the difference between booking a trip and having one built around you.

5 things my clients should know before booking Tulum:

1. Understand your options for airports. The Tulum airport will be much closer, but also will have limited flight options depending on where you're coming from.

2. Your hotel labeled "Tulum" might not actually be in Tulum at all. Many resorts in this area might be 20-30 minutes outside of town but still have Tulum in their name.

3. Beach clubs can require reservations, especially in high season. Show up without one and you could be turned away or stuck paying inflated walk-up rates.

4. Sargassum season is still real here in Tulum. If seaweed-free beaches matter to your trip, you need to know which months to avoid and which resorts actively clear it, and which areas you can escape to find clearer waters.

5. The "jungle area" and "beach zone" are not the same trip. Where you stay changes your whole experience, from nightlife access to how far you're driving for dinner.

Tips for visiting the Acropolis/Parthenon in Greece in 2026 and beyond:

The difference between 8am and 9am is HUGE. You need to be purchasing your ticket and time slot early so that you can get the earliest time.

By 9am, cruisers have made their way. It’s not enough to just visit in “the morning” if you want the smallest crowds. See the difference in the photos from June 2026
