Kirkbrae House, perched at the south end of Edinburgh’s Dean Bridge, dates back to the late 17th century. Originally an inn for traveling bakers, it was remodelled in 1892 by architect J. Graham Fairley in the Scottish Baronial style, featuring crow-stepped gables and an L-plan design. Though it appears modest from the road, the building extends several storeys into the Dean Gorge.
