Masticulture. Ecotourism on Chios Island, Greece We offer environmentally conscious travellers a wealth of rewarding activities related to the nature and culture of the Greek Island of Chios.

Masticulture is a locally owned and operated outdoor activities specialist in the mastic village of Mesta on Chios island in the Aegean Sea. It is the first travel company specialising in ecotourism on the island. Its goal is to provide a broad variety of activities related to Chios island environment (natural and social) as well as the people, businesses and associations representing the local traditions and culture of Chios. This takes place on an island that has remained broadly untouched by the tourism development of the last few decades. Chios has also managed to keep its rural societies present because of its active agricultural sector, which until today continues to be the chief source of employment for the many of villagers on the island, whilst also functioning as a prime factor in Chios ' sustainable development.

🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ Ελάτε στον πολιτιστικό περίπατο που οργανώνουμε, σε συνεργασία με τον Σύλλογο Φίλοι Μονοπατιών Χίου, την Κυριακή 5 Οκτωβρίου, στις 10:30, με σημείο συνάντησης το Μουσείο Μαστίχας Χίου.

Η διαδρομή είναι 5 χλμ, κυκλική και εύκολη, κατάλληλη για μικρούς και μεγάλους. Κατά τη διάρκεια του περιπάτου, θα ενημερωθείτε για τον ζωτικό ρόλο των ορεινών όγκων, θα παρατηρήσετε το αγροτικό τοπίο από το μπαλκόνι του Μουσείου και θα μάθετε την ιστορία των εγκαταλειμμένων αλωνιών που θα συναντήσουμε.

📷 Στον περίπατο θα βρίσκονται και μέλη της Φωτογραφικής Λέσχης Χίου.

📍 Η δράση είναι αφιερωμένη στον εκλιπόντα πρόεδρο του συλλόγου, Γιώργο Χαλάτση, ο οποίος ανέδειξε με ζήλο τις περιπατητικές διαδρομές στο νησί της Χίου.

Tο (μακρινό;) 2006 παρουσιάσαμε για πρώτη φορά την καλλιέργεια του μαστιχόδεντρου σε φίλους και οικογένεια! Τότε φυτεύτηκαν και οι σπόροι που οδήγησαν το 2007 στην επαγγελματική μας ενασχόληση με την επίδειξη της καλιέργειας του μαστιχόδεντρου και της συγκομιδής της μαστίχας. Το 'Masticulture δραστηριότητες οικοτουρισμού' και οι πρώτες επαγγελματικές περιηγήσεις ξεκίνησαν το 2007.
