Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) Mandatory for Travel to the UK from 2 April 2025

We would like to remind you that EU nationals, including the associated territories, travelling to the UK will need to have an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for travel from 2 April 2025 onwards.

The application system has been live since 5 March.

We would also like to remind you that an ETA is a digital travel authorisation – it is not a visa and does not allow entry to the UK, but rather authorises a person to travel to the UK.
The ETA allows multiple entries (journeys) into the UK for stays of up to six months at a time over a two-year period or until the holder's passport expires – whichever is the sooner.
The ETA currently costs £10, although it has been announced that it will increase to £16 in the future.

Υποχρεωτική Hλεκτρονική ταξιδιωτική εξουσιοδότηση (ETA) για ταξίδια προς το Ην. Βασίλειο από τις 2 Απριλίου 2025

Υπενθυμίζουμε πως οι υπήκοοι των χωρών της ΕΕ, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των συνδεδεμένων εδαφών, που ταξιδεύουν στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, θα πρέπει να διαθέτουν ηλεκτρονική ταξιδιωτική εξουσιοδότηση (ETA) για ταξίδια από τις 2 Απριλίου 2025 και μετά.

Το σύστημα για υποβολή αιτήσεων είναι ήδη ενεργό από τις 5 Μαρτίου.

Υπενθυμίζουμε επίσης ότι η ETA είναι μια ψηφιακή άδεια για ταξίδι – δεν είναι βίζα και δεν επιτρέπει την είσοδο στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, παρά εξουσιοδοτεί ένα άτομο να ταξιδέψει στο ΗΒ.
Η ETA επιτρέπει πολλαπλές εισόδους (ταξίδια) στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο για παραμονή έως και έξι μηνών κάθε φορά σε διάστημα δύο ετών ή έως ότου λήξει το διαβατήριο του κατόχου – όποιο από τα δύο συμβεί νωρίτερα.

Michelin Keys Debut in Greece, Awarding 68 Hotels for Outstanding Stays

Greece has joined an elite list of global destinations recognized for exceptional hospitality, with 68 hotels across the country receiving prestigious Michelin Keys — a new distinction introduced by the Michelin Guide to highlight outstanding accommodations.

Much like Michelin Stars for restaurants, Michelin Keys identify hotels that provide remarkable stays, evaluated on more than just amenities. The new recognition sets a benchmark for travelers seeking memorable experiences.

“We are particularly excited to present our first selection of Michelin Keys for Greece to the world’s travelers,” said MICHELIN Guides International Director Gwendal Poullennec during a press conference in Athens.

Following anonymous evaluations based on five international criteria, Michelin Inspectors awarded Keys to 68 properties out of more than 200 Greek hotels featured in the broader Michelin Guide selection.

The inaugural list in the 2025 Michelin Guide for Greece includes:

– 1 hotel awarded Three Michelin Keys
– 7 hotels awarded Two Michelin Keys
– 60 hotels awarded One Michelin Key

Michelin Key categories explained
– Three Michelin Keys – Extraordinary Stay: Reserved for hotels offering an unparalleled experience with exceptional comfort, service, and design. These properties are considered destinations in themselves.
Two Michelin Keys – Exceptional Stay: Awarded to properties that combine standout design, a distinct sense of place, and memorable hospitality.
One Michelin Key – Very Special Stay: Given to hotels that excel in service, character, and personality, often offering something unique or innovative.

Awarded in Greece with Three Michelin Keys: Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens
Awarded in Greece with Two Michelin Keys: Hotel Grande Bretagne and The Dolli at Acropolis in Athens, among 7 hotels
Awarded in Greece with One Michelin Key: One&Only Aesthesis in Athens, Domes Zeen Chania on Crete, Euphoria Retreat in the Peloponnese, and Canaves Sunday on Santorini among 60 hotels

Although the seismic activity around Santorini and the surrounding Cycladic islands has subsided, new emergency measures have been implemented to protect the island’s residents.

A Joint Ministerial Decision, signed by the Ministries of Economy, Citizen Protection, Development, Social Cohesion, Maritime Affairs, Tourism, and Climate Crisis & Civil Protection, has introduced measures that will remain in effect for the next two months.

The measures focus on restricting access to specific areas on Santorini and Thirasia that have been impacted by the recent earthquakes. These areas will have controlled access to ensure the safety of residents, visitors, and employees. Additionally, tourism businesses in these zones will temporarily suspend operations.

Key Measures:
– Port of Athinios: Measures will be implemented to manage traffic flow, with priority given to the disembarking of passenger vehicles, followed by buses and trucks. This is to reduce the time vehicles spend in the area and prevent traffic congestion.
– Old Port of Fira: Access to and stay in the Old Port of Fira, as well as the Cable Car facilities and the Fira-Old Port Path, will be temporarily prohibited.
– Gulf of Thirassia and Armeni Oia: Access and stay in the Gulf of Thirassia and the eastern part of the settlement of Armeni Oia will be restricted.
– Ammoudi Settlement: The movement of all vehicles is prohibited on the municipal road from the Oia ring road intersection to the port of Ammoudi, except for supply vehicles at specific times. Additionally, access to the walking paths “Ammoudi-Akrotiri Agios Nikolaos” and “Oia-Ammoudi” is temporarily suspended.

In all three affected areas, residential use, hotel operations, short-term and long-term leases, and the operation of restaurants and cafes are temporarily halted. Sea access is restricted, with approval from the Port Authority of Thira required for any vessels
