A MOMENT TO REMEMBER BEAT
Lucy and Beat’s Home
Saturday, May 22, 2021
10:00am – 2:00pm
Beat’s family will be very briefly receiving friends.
There will not be a formal ceremony, but there will be a place to sign a memory book and light a candle.
Due to COVID all protocols will need to followed
1) Wearing masks, social distancing and no touching must be observed to keep everyone safe
2) Temperatures and hand sanitizer will be used at the entrance
3) Please bring your own pen to sign the memory book
We are trying create a moment that honors Beat, but is safe to briefly attend.
Thank you for understanding.

UN MOMENTO PARA RECORDAR A BEAT
En la casa de Lucy y Beat
Sábado, 22 de mayo de 2021.

La familia de Beat recibirá amigos muy brevemente. No habrá ceremonia formal,
pero habrá un lugar para firmar un libro de recuerdos y encender una vela.
Debido al COVID se deberán de seguir todos los protocolos.
1) El uso de mascarillas, el distanciamiento social y el no contacto físico para mantener a todos a salvo.
2) Se utilizarán medidor de temperatura y desinfectante de manos en la entrada.
3) Traer su propio lapicero para firmar el libro de recuerdos.
Estamos tratando de crear un momento que honre a Beat, solo si es seguro asistir brevemente.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Beat, who passed away on May 17th. Beat passed away unexpectedly of natural causes. We will all miss him more than words can express. He was not just a founder but an integral part of the Viaventure family.

Beat’s passion for adventure led him to Central America in the early 1990’s, and he remained a pioneer of adventure travel in the region ever since. His commitment and passion to sustainability influenced not only the experiences he created for travelers, but all aspects of his life. Beat championed environmental causes and was a staunch advocate that truly walked the walk.

Beat was an advocate not only for the environment, but for the communities he visited and lived among. He spearheaded many sustainable initiatives including our own Viaventure Foundation, working hand-in-hand with local grass roots development projects throughout the region.

Beat had a serious and bright mind, but a very playful heart. Those who knew him well will never forget a smile that made his eyes disappear, and the laugh that followed afterward. He laughed a lot, and sometimes at himself.

A top cyclist who won national championships, it was rare to find Beat traveling anywhere by car. He was always training, always searching for new routes, always seeking the next challenge.

Most of all, Beat was dedicated to his family, a loving husband and proud father to four beautiful children.

We are lucky to have called Beat our family, too. He will be deeply missed.

Very proud of the Viaventure team whom, along with Finca in the Clouds, traveled to the community of San Vicente Pacaya to donate food for the people -- including food their horses and dogs. Approximately 120 families were able to participate in the donation. Thank you to everyone who participated in this effort! ❤️ We're all in this together. 🤝 Thank you for your support!

As the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

We’re making use of some Covid-19 downtime to for some pretty cool projects. Here’s Jose Pablo from the logistics team putting some surprise carpentry skills to work, converting some old unused desks into composting toilets and wash stations for our *new* Beyond fixed camps. Check it out!

Also, stay tuned for more information about the new camps. We’re really excited to offer them as soon as we’re able to host visitors again!

We are pleased to share some pictures of the Viaventure team recently helping Buckner Guatemala distribute food donations to 144 families in three communities in the Antigua Valley. A special thanks goes out to our trusted transportation partner Gustavo Guzman Farfan for donating his vehicle for the cause. These times have been incredibly difficult for everyone, and it's really great to see organizations and individuals alike working together to make sure everyone is looked after. We are happy to do our small part!
