Meet Lucy ✨🪡

If you’ve attended a Saturday weaving class, you’re sure to have been welcomed by Lucy. Or perhaps you had the pleasure of meeting her last travel season, when she stepped up to show us around Chichicastenango. We loved seeing the market town from her eyes and experiences. But did you know that she plays a key role in quality control for Kakaw production that includes embroidery? Lucy’s careful attention to detail and skilled stitches are appreciated for every hand-sewn garment.

Thank you for sharing your story and your talents with us, Lucy. We’re so proud to have you on the Kakaw team!

A couple of our favorite backstrap weaving teachers ♥️ Doña Eve is clearly a fantastic mother, we know because we work with both of her daughters! And her sons have helped us at the studio, too. We are so honored to be working with such wonderful humans.

Once an island girl, always an island girl 🏝️

Throwback from last year with the reversible hat. Now broken in, softer and lighter from the strong sun on a different island far far away.

Our Studio Support extraordinaire also steps in to teach backstrap weaving when possible 🌻 🧶 🪡

A very talented lady — Darlin is studying agronomy in university and also applying her learnings at a plant nursery in Guatemala City.

We are so proud of all the amazing women on our small but mighty team!!!

Have you had a class with her? Let us know!

😆

Francis is a talented weaver from Santo Domingo Xenacoj, and aside from loving the tranquility backstrap weaving produces jn her personally, she is a trained runner, competing around Guatemala. 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ We think that’s pretty awesome!

She teaches with us in Antigua Guatemala 🧶

"Art and Connection Delight.

This was a true highlight of my trip. It was a delightful 2 hours of one on one instruction. The class is given in a beautiful garden. Midway, you stop and have cocoa tea. A true momment of connection. I will treasure this experience always."
