It was such a pleasure to reconnect with my friends, the Traditional Cooks of Guatemala, who proudly shared some of the most emblematic dishes from their communities. 🇬🇹❤️
The gastronomic gathering “Los Recados de Guatemala” was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and taste the flavors, aromas, and ancestral knowledge that are an essential part of Guatemala’s culinary heritage and identity.
Every recado tells a story, preserves a tradition, and reflects knowledge passed down from generation to generation by the women who keep Guatemala’s traditional cuisine alive.
My sincere thanks to the Network of Traditional Cooks of Guatemala for the invitation and for their continued work to preserve and promote our rich culinary heritage.
The food was absolutely delicious, and I truly enjoyed this special gathering! 🌽🍲🇬🇹

A visit to Quetzaltenango is not complete without stoping at Salcajá, visiting the church, the museum and trying the famous Caldo de Frutas, a traditional local fruit drink that has been enjoyed for generations. Refreshing, naturally sweet, and full of local flavor, it's a must-try when visiting Xela! 🍎🍍🍌🥭

Concepción Chiquirichapa truly surprised us! 🌱🥔
Adonías and his family warmly welcomed us to their community project, where they shared their inspiring Potato Tour experience. We learned about agronomy, the history of potato farming, local traditions, and the important role this crop plays in the community.
We also had the privilege of taking part in the opening celebration of the community fair, making our visit even more memorable.
If you're looking to experience the authentic side of Guatemala through its people, culture, and traditions, we highly recommend this tour!

We had the honor of visiting the Xelajuj Noj Chocolate Experience, hosted by sisters Olivia, Clemen, and Beatriz. What a wonderful and inspiring experience! We explored their beautiful garden, learned about the rich chocolate-making traditions of Quetzaltenango, and discovered the passion and dedication behind every handcrafted piece of chocolate.

A walking tour of Quetzaltenango is a must while visiting the city. Stroll through the Central Plaza, Pasaje Enríquez, the Municipal Building, the Municipal Theater, and the Espíritu Santo Cathedral, some of the city's most iconic landmarks.
We enjoyed exploring Xela with Gustavo, our knowledgeable local guide, who shared the history and stories that bring the city to life. No visit is complete without tasting Xela's excellent coffee, delicious shecas, and wandering through the colorful La Democracia Market and Flower Market, where local culture is on full display.

Almolonga and Zunil, in Quetzaltenango, are renowned for producing the fresh vegetables that supply markets across Guatemala. Their fertile lands and the hard work of local farming families have made these communities an essential part of the country's agriculture.

Our visit to San Andrés Semetabaj was truly extraordinary. We had the privilege of visiting the Morales family, where we learned about medicinal plants, the Maya cosmovision, and ancestral traditions that have been preserved for generations.
We ended this unforgettable experience by enjoying paat and quichom, two traditional Maya dishes that reflect the rich culinary heritage of Guatemala.
Experiences like these remind us that travel is about connecting with people, culture, and living traditions.
