Nurse sharks are a common sight for divers and snorkelers in Roatan, Honduras, due to the island's location on the Meso-American Barrier Reef and the generally calm, clear waters These sharks are easily identifiable by their yellowish-brown coloration, round heads barbels, and small eyes.

Nurse sharks are one of the most commonly observed shark species on coral and rocky reefs in the area, making them a frequent encounter for divers and snorkelers in Roatan. They are often found resting in caves or under ledges during the day, becoming more active during twilight and night hours when they feed on fishes, rays, and invertebrates.

Snorkeling with nurse sharks is a popular activity, with tours available at locations in the East End of the Islands. 🏝
