Today I arrive at the end of a four-month tour of movement, music, teaching, airports, dance floors, ceremonies, and many many souls. And along the way, I turned 50. I can’t think of a better way to land into this decade.

There was a women’s retreat on menopause, two super dancy KHOLO sessions and a Bhakti masterclass filled with incredibKHOLOroatia. An unforgettable Brazil pilgrimage. Deeply sacred Peru retreat. And just last night, epic dancefloor madness in Slovenia. This morning i woke up and taught yoga back in Zagreb as i do almost daily.

Maybe it looks scattered from the outside. But to me, it’s all the same thread of devotion expressed through different forms. Movement. Music. Breath. Ritual. Presence. Connection. Nature. Community.

All in service of one thing: lifting ourselves up and out of the fear and back into aliveness. And i think this is what is needed in the world because all of these gatherings were packed with people with light in their hearts.

But now i’ll stop for a moment. For everyone asking: I have no retreats planned this year. I am entering the undoing for a little while.

What I have ahead of me is my 17-year-old daughter’s last year at home before she takes off into the world. A dear friends’ wedding. A bedroom to paint. Very cool festivals to arrive at simply as a guest facilitator. Visits with my mama. a reunion with my sister after years. A return to daily practice. I have a lot of resting and digesting to do.

But mostly I have to remember to trust my worth in the emptiness of my calendar too.

Lets see how long i last 🤗

We cannot create what we cannot imagine.
One of my beloved teachers always says imagination is our superpower. Our siddhi.

I spend a lot of my time imagining gathering humans in places I haven’t been to. and then somehow, eventually, I do it.

This place in the rainforest of Brazil was one of those visions. created by those who could imagine it.

I could write pages about how this place touched me, taught me, held me when we finally met.

And: when I first imagined it many months ago, it was as epic as it is reality. A kind of memory from the future.

Looking at these photos i just got from .luz it feels totally mindblowing that I get to teach in places like the Sacred Valley, Peru, or the rainforest of Brazil, or in a monastery in Nepal…in these most sacred places where spiritual practice is part of the tapestry of life, woven into land and people.

And what makes it all even more special is the people I get to share the teachings with: some of the most curious, sensitive, courageous hearts i have met.
That is when teaching yoga stops feeling like i am “giving something” and more like a shared remembrance for all of us.

I dropped into a vinyasa flow class the other day, in a big studio in a big European city. The studio was full, the class was strong, sweaty and creative. But there was no Om. As a matter of studio policy.

And ever since that practice, the Gayatri Mantra has been on repeat in me. I am chanting it driving, cooking, walking. Like i was delivered a remembering and a reminder of the deeper wisdom Yoga practice carries.

Gayatri mantra is a 3000-year-old precious gem. Some call it the essence of the Vedas. It is the oldest mantra known to us, a prayer of humanity for clarity. for the light within our heart, mind, our senses, our voice.to the same light the ancients saw in the sun (Savitur), a source of all life.

And in yoga, clarity is what we actually practice for in our path to moksha - liberation from all illusion. the drama. the stories we keep telling.

So much forever gratitude and love to my teacher Janet Stone for initiating me into this practice. Yoga is so much more for me than asana. and i feel like i am just beginning, with great humility to connect dots across this massive ocean of wisdom passed on to us.

May that light guide how I see.May it dissolve the residue of ignorance.

When I speak about places and people who hold ancient wisdom- this is what I mean.

Today I sat with Mami Benita, 88 years alive, a Quechua elder from the Ausangate region, guardian of prayers and teachings older than I can imagine. At her home.

She held my hand and said: Take care of your body so you can move for as long as possible, and so you can DANCE. She told me many things including that the path will be softer from here on.

mami benita is one of the last elders still teaching in her village at one of the most remote places in the world, and for a moment, I was able to sit inside this transmission.

On my last day teaching here in Peru at my Way of the Shamans retreat, this seemed like a deeply profound dharmic confirmation.
