Fortica Fortress – The Pirate Watchtower Above Omiš
Perched high above the town of Omiš, Fortica Fortress offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views on the Adriatic coast. From its ancient walls, you can gaze across the turquoise Cetina River, the rooftops of Omiš, and the endless blue of the sea.
This 15th-century fortress was once a stronghold of the famous Omiš pirates. According to legend, the pirates were ready to defend their town to the last rock—literally. If enemies ever got too close, they were prepared to roll massive stones down the cliff onto the town to prevent invasion. Luckily, that drastic measure was never needed!
